Scrooge wasn't lying when he said he'd keep her safe.

Once the two had reached the mansion, he immediately got to work. Mrs. Beakley was quite surprised by the infant in the billionaire's arms, but she scooped her up without hesitation.

He started researching every town that stretched away from Duckburg, crossing out every place he'd adventured to himself. That narrowed down quite a few places. After hours of research, he finally settled for Fowlsdale, a small seaside town a few hours away from Duckburg.

He didn't even notice it was morning until Mrs. Beakley opened the curtain, letting the early morning light shine into his office.

"Beakley-" He jumped from his uncomfortable position on his chair. He'd been leaning over his desk looking through his giant map. "Morning already?"

She rolled her eyes. "Yes, Mr. McDuck. It's been approximately 6 hours since you brought a child in, without explanation may I add."

Scrooge ran a hand through the feathers on his head. "Right, right. And where is she-?"

Two little squeals nearly cut him off. Apparently Scrooge was so tired that he didn't notice the other two in the room with them. The girl in question was playing on a nearby couch with Webbigail. Webby was a bit older than the red head but she was gentle with her.

He glanced at Bentina, the former spy staring at the two with a fond smile. He always knew she had a motherly side. It might not show with her tough exterior, but she was always caring.

A soft smile spread on his beak without his permission. He hadn't smiled much this year, it almost felt foreign. But it was nice.

Turning away from the two, he turned Beakley's attention to the map on his desk. "The lass hatched in a lighthouse all alone. I just want to find her a safe home... away from all this."

He gestured to his walls covered in artifacts and newspapers praising his daring adventures. Some had pictures of some violent battles he had. A couple included his fights with Magica.

"If I can protect her from dangers like this, I think my mind would be able to rest a little easier."

Beakley stared for a moment. Of course she could tell what was truly on his mind. The guilt he'd been carrying...

She looked at the part of the map he circled. "You really think Fowlsdale would be safest for her?"

Scrooge took a quick glance at the young orphan. Sea blue eyes stared back at him.

He nodded.

Beakley gave him a look of understanding. "Alright. I think I know someone who'd be willing to take her in."

Donna Duck was just about to close her bar when Scrooge and Bentina came in.

"Well if it isn't the richest duck in the world and Agent 22 herself. This is a surprise." She smirked at the two, gesturing to them to sit on the bar stools.
