"I just don't think she'd bail," I muttered, letting out a frustrated grunt as I attempted to pull the punching bag.
"Here, let me do it," Peter offered and raised his hand.
"I got it," I brushed him off and attempted to pull it once more. I don't know why I grabbed the heaviest one. For some reason, I jumped up when Coach Wilson asked for volunteers to bring out the gym equipment from the storage into the gym.
I could feel Peter watch me. He had stepped back to give me some room, but now he was trying to contain his laughter. I glared at him and tried to pull the heavy punching bag by the chains.
"Peter, don't pull a muscle there okay, we both know you're such a try-hard. We don't need to send you to the nurse, now don't we?" A shorter male walked past us, and I instantly noticed the thin moustache he was trying to grow. He laughed as he walked past us and flashed a smile in my direction.
"Who is that?"
"Ignore him," he grunted and grabbed the chain out of my hands. "Maybe Liz's sick,"
"Aren't you the one with the-" I coughed. "Tingle?"
Peter snorted loudly. "Shut up,"
I followed him as he effortlessly pulled the punching bag coach Wilson had instructed earlier. I placed two small orange cones 3 meters away from each other, calling out to coach Wilson. "We're done," I slumped down next to the mat next to Peter.
"Alright guys, pair up with a partner, and we'll do some exercises today," Coach Wilson glanced down at his chart and called out each name on the attendance sheet.
I glanced over at Michelle, and I waved. I smiled hopefully at her, and she pointed at Ned. "We're teaming up," she apologized, and Ned nodded along with her.
"I guess that leaves us then," Peter looked around the gym. I groaned internally as I realized everyone else was paired.
"First two exercises, ten push-ups three sets and ten sit-ups three sets," Wilson instructed.
I immediately fell back down on the mat, and Peter was already on his hands and feet. He gave me a confused look. "What are you doing?" He whispered.
"Pretending to do sit-ups," I whispered back. I shuffled behind Peter so his body could block me. "When I said tingle, I meant that you know that something feels wrong. Doesn't Liz not being in school set off any alarming bells?"
"Not really," he carried on doing push-ups beside me.
"It feels off to me," I tried to justify. "Liz hasn't texted me since I asked her to come shopping with me for her party,"
"Blair, I can see you hiding behind Parker!" Coach Wilson called out from across the room.
I huffed and started doing sit-ups. Alright, Morgan, not bad for ten. Easy. Peter was already on his last set as I completed my first. "It's not a competition," I muttered.
"It's not a competition," he mocked and laid down next to me. He leaned his hand against his cheek and watched me.
"Stop," I laughed and completed my second set of push-ups.
"What?" He smirked.
"Don't look at me,"
"I'm just checking out your form," he laughed. "It's fucking terrible, but keep going,"
I slumped against the mat, falling onto my stomach. "I hate you,"
"Aren't you the secret undercover spy?" He whispered. "I thought secret spies get training and are like weapon experts?"
