Backstory: Madelaine is the daughter of famed assassin Milady De Winter and the goddaughter of Quirin. When Madelaine was still a young child she along with her mother fled their home in France due to her mother's crimes as well as the fact she was set to be executed for those crimes and moved to Corona after Quirin promised them shelter. They settled in Old Corona and moved in with Quirin and his son Varian. Varian's mother had passed not long after he was born leaving Quirin as a widow. Milady and Quirin, being old childhood friends decided that they would help raise each other's kids and be a family of sorts together. Milady treated Varian just like her own and Quirin did the same with Madelaine. despite the four year age gap between the two Madelaine and Varian got along well with Madelaine taking on the role of an older sister. Varian was often mocked by the other kids in the village who viewed him as a problem child and was scorned by the adults as well, however Madelaine was always there to console him and offer comfort. Milady and Madelaine encouraged Varian to pursue his interest in alchemy which Varian appreciated. As years went by Varian grew into a very intelligent albeit very awkward teenager while Madelaine grew into a very kindhearted and beautiful young lady. Madelaine would help her brother with experiments while also making sure he stayed safe. Varian was glad to have Madelaine around and saw her as a real sister rather than a godsister. Varian also saw Milady as his mom since she helped raise him. whenever Varian got into trouble with his dad Milady would comfort him and reassure him that Quirin was only trying to keep him safe. when Varian became friends with Rapunzel Madelaine felt happy that someone else cared for her younger brother. Madelaine knew Varian was a sweet kid who just wanted to help others and that was something Madelaine treasured most.
