I gripped his hand tightly as we quickly jogged on the wet sidewalk. The rain still powered down on our heads as Phil gripped the door handle of the Starbucks and swung it open. Him being the gentleman he always was, he lightly pushed me in front of him, just as another hard gust of cold rain sprayed in his direction. I gave him a sympathetic look as he stepped inside and wiped his face. He smiled and lifted my hood off of my head, leaving my black hair to tumble out and onto the sides of my face. I smiled back as I fixed his fringe that had been thrown off of his forehead in the wind.

We had been at his apartment, watching movies bundled in blankets while keeping a watchful eye outside, as the vicious storm was reaching its peak. I had let slip out that I would do anything for a nice cup of coffee on the chilly day, and Phil had come up with the brilliant idea to go out and make a run for the nearby Starbucks, which was about six blocks away from the flat. I objected heavily, saying that it was too cold and that I didn't want him to get sick yet again but once you get Phil started, you can't stop him. I grinned as I saw his eyes light up as he grasped my arms and pulled me up off of the couch.

"We're going on an adventure!" he said.

Six blocks and 27 puddles later, we had arrived.

"Go and find us a nice spot. I'll get the drinks." he said

I proceeded to reach into my handbag for my wallet, but was stopped by him grabbing my hand. He firmly insisted that he pay, and gently nudged me into the direction of the seating area. It was a very busy day, everyone was desperate to get out of the rain, have a warm drink, and get unlimited access to Wi-Fi, especially on a treacherous weather day like this. Luckily, I spotted a round table with two chairs in the corner, pretty much out of view of anyone, just the way I like it. As I sat down, I took off my coat, placed it on the back of my seat and sat down. Not long after, I watched as Phil spotted me, and walked slowly towards our area with a mug, a pastry bag, and a plastic cup with a straw donning the Starbucks logo. He set the items down on the table, removed his coat, and took a seat.

"Took you long enough." I said with a laugh.

"Well excuse me for not wanting to spill hot coffee on someone and get sued." he responded. We both laughed.

"Vanilla Latte for you, Java Chip Frappuccino for me. Is it politically correct for a grown man to get a frappuccino?" He asked.

"Probably not. But hey, whatever's your poison." I joked.

I lifted my steaming hot mug carefully, and took a sip. I closed my eyes and smiled at the warm and comforting vanilla taste, and quickly went in for another. Phil placed the pastry bag by my cup. I opened it, and revealed a chocolate cake pop with sprinkles, my favorite. I grinned at him as I took a bite of half, and then handed the stick to him to finish off. He gave me a toothy grin with chocolate in his teeth. I giggled and handed him a napkin. I lifted up my cup and took another sip of my latte. When I looked up, I noticed Phil staring at me lovingly, his baby blue eyes locked on my face.

"What is it? Do I have something on my face?" I asked alarmingly as I quickly reached for a napkin, only to be stopped once again by Phil's tight grip on my wrist.

"No,no. You're just so beautiful." He said, grabbing my other hand and lacing my fingers into his as his striking light colored eyes looked into my plain brown ones.

"So very beautiful."
