It was a windy evening, the dark clouds above slowly growing in size indicating the storm that was to come. Dorcas and Marlene were sitting under an oak tree relaxing when they noticed the sky above them.
"woah the clouds look really dark, should we go in?"
"nah, I love this weather, maybe it'll rain! we could even dance in the rain together." Dorcas winked.
"Dorcas Meadowes, you are crazy." Marlene shook her head, laughing softly as a faint blush made its way to her cheeks at the thought of dancing with Dorcas, rain or shine.
Then, the raindrops fell.
Students were holding their textbooks over their heads and running inside the castle as fast as they could, not even considering using a charm to keep them dry in their haste to avoid getting wet.
Dorcas, however, was a different case.
She ran into the rain, a grin appearing on her face as she closed her eyes and tilted her head towards the sky. Although the sun had practically disappeared, even though it was drab and grey everywhere, Marlene felt like she was staring into a bright light as she watched Dorcas. Dorcas was like sunshine, so brilliant it's almost blinding. Marlene loved that light so much.
"I love you"
"I love you too Mar-"
"No, I love you Dorcas. I love your smile, the way it's so blazing it almost hurts to look at it. I love the way your eyes twinkle, the way they're filled with life. I love the way your cheeks flush when you're excited, I love the quirk of your lips when you're concentrated, I love you. I'm in love with you, Dorcas."
Dorcas stared at Marlene, her mouth slightly open in shock as the rain poured around them.
"Cas, please, say something. I get it if you don't like me ba-"
Dorcas ran towards Marlene and kissed her with such force that they both toppled over. They both giggled, and Dorcas tucked a stray lock of hair behind Marlene's ear.
"I love you too, Mar"
