————————"As much as I would love to chat mistress, I don't have much time" She said this while pushing open the door marked 'EMPLOYEES ONLY.' "Mistress? The hell?" He said.
"Look if you go and stall the cops for me, I'll explain everything and get out of your hair, okay?" She replied closing the door, leaving a small crack.
TING. TING. TING.
Her eyes shifted through the little space. E/c orbs immediately focusing on the armed, suited men at the front desk.
"AND close the damn door" You asked in a whisper. More of a demand. The door wouldn't budge no matter how hard you tried to force it. Gently or not. You looked up to see him dazed out and mumbling. How will he stall the cops if he's not even paying attention?!?! "HEY, MISTRESS!!" you began to whisper yell, while poking at him. 'God, why did I choose this idiot to help me?'

I fixed my gaze on my shoes. Everything besides my thoughts were muted. I had no idea I had such a firm grip on the door. Or that the cops were inside the shop. This is impossible for me. I promised myself that I would change. For my own mental health and the sake of Baji. I even help Chifuyu in this damned shop. They'd want me to stay out of trouble, wouldn't they?
But if I don't help, she'll be caught and have at least another year to fight. Jail is a tough place to stay.
No, that's her fault; it's her fault she ended up in jail in the first place. I sucked it up and did my time. She should do the same. Why did I let her in at all?
She could've been led to the door and arrested. I mean, the cops had to been close. What should I say now? Should I just hand her over to the cops? Or try to fool her by claiming to be of assistance but eventually giving her away. No, that's not right. Going over the line even.
I ended up closing the door and walking over to the front desk without thinking. 'I swear they've rung that bell at least ten times. Surprised it hasn't broke yet.' My body seemed to have moved on it's own.
Three armed men were standing in front of me. One with curly dark brown hair. One with light brown hair with dark brown tips. The other has dark brown hair that has been straightened but seems to be curling up. Of course, they were all wearing police caps along with their uniforms.
"Welcome to XJ Land, the pet wonderland." What can I do to assist you-?" With a slight smile, I asked, I had been cut off for the second time today. 'Today is really not my day.'
"Listen, we have a very tight schedule. So let's make this quick." The light brown haired one stated.
The dark brown haired man then held a photograph of the woman who had barged into my shop earlier, asking for a place to hide, in front of my face.
"Have you seen this woman around here?" He asked. 'What a raspy voice'
She has a sarcastic personality to be so pretty. I barely even met her and already made that conclusion. But who knows how long she's been in jail. That type of experience really does rub off on you. I would know.
My heart says I should help. But my mind says no. What if I get myself into a situation that could put me back where I used to be? Man, that would suck. I don't even know what she did to get where she did in the first place...
7 days,
That's all i'll give her.
A week to relax and figure stuff out for herself.
A breather,
Something she most likely needs.
Bam. I figured it out!!
And in the end, if she doesn't, future me will figure it out. His problem not mine.
I'm so cool.
"No I haven't...but i'll keep an eye out and give you a call if I do." Keeping a 'natural' straight face, I responded.
Good thing I have experience, or she would've been out the door with rage. All of her hard work would've been down the drain.
But cops being cops they have to check around regardless. Despite me having a history with police, I wasn't sure if they needed a permit or not. Therefore I didn't interfere. While the other two looked in the back, the light brown haired guy began moving to the 'EMPLOYEES ONLY' door.
Makes sense, I saw him eyeing it before the rest started searching. Not that there's many hiding spots except running around in aisle's. So that'd be the main spot to look.
As much as I would love to save that weird girl, I couldn't. There isn't anything I can do to stop the cop without looking suspicious. For the sake of hers and mine, for the moment, I have to stay a worthless bystander. I just hope she has a plan. If not
i'm sorry.
