Taehyung willed himself not to fall into the deep dark pit that would lead him wallowing in sadness and cry. Taking a sip of water, he sat up straight to try to write another tune or lyric. He simply needed something to make him feel useful. Something to make him feel like he mattered.

He experimented with a few keys on the keyboard, making sure to record them just in case. He then pieced them together, layering them over one another to listen to them all at once.

What was the thought or feeling he wanted his audience to have?

What prompted him to write?

That's when it dawned on him. He hadn't even considered why he was writing. To continue, he needed to return to the source, his muse.
So he turned off the computer, turned off the lights, and left the studio.

When he returned to the dorm, the entire house was dark and quiet, as everyone had gone to bed. Taehyung went straight to his room. He didn't bother to change his clothes, instead, he left his coat and mask on the floor before retiring to his bed. He crumbled when he saw the other person asleep in his bed.

"Tae?" Feeling the bed dip, a sleepy voice called out to him. Taehyung was deafeningly silent. Instead, he wrapped his arms around the figure under his blanket, desperate for any form of comfort right now. His cold cheek was cupped warmly by the warm hands.
When she heard him sniffle and felt the damp tears against the skin of her neck, Aera was taken aback. She didn't say anything, instead allowed him to cry into her shoulder.

"Sorry." Taehyung's voice cracked.

"Don't be." Aera patted his back and comforted him. When things went wrong, Taehyung became irritated with himself. He was afraid of being forgotten or left behind, so he always felt the need to stand out and be different. That was already a lot for one person to handle. When you combine that with the slanderous rumours and constant accusations against him, it was easy to push him over the edge.

She just held him in her arms for the rest of the night, letting him fall asleep in her arms as exhaustion washed over him. Even though she wanted to know what had happened, she resisted the urge to question him instead she thought about the different possibilities. Was it a song he wrote? Was he involved in another scandal?

Right now, Aera knew she needed to be there for him and assure him that everything would be fine. Aera gently wiped the stray tears from his face, brushing his fringe back.

That was all Taehyung ever needed.

As much as he appreciated verbal affirmations, sometimes all he needed was a hug. It was more than enough to know that someone was there for him, providing the warmth and love he craved. She didn't go back to sleep after that, instead choosing to stare at him as he slept peacefully.

"Sleep well," Aera said quietly as she leaned down to kiss the top of his head.

Taehyung first met her when she returned the camera he had left behind during one of his fan encounters. She had no idea who he was until that night when he revealed his identity to her. He was fascinated by the way she saw things as they spent time together taking pictures.

It was unique among the others. She was one of a kind. Just like him, She also had an uncanny ability to see things in ways that others did not. Meeting someone who also shared the same kind of viewpoint, it made him feel connected to her in ways he could never explain.

She thought she'd never see him again after that day, but Taehyung stayed in touch with her. He would frequently invite her out for coffee just to catch up and talk. On days when they couldn't meet, he'd spend hours on the phone calling her or texting her.

She exuded a sense of normalcy. Taehyung was free to express himself and share his ideas without fear of being judged or mocked for being different. He didn't have to hold back. Seeing her smile or showing interest in his ideas was enough to give him the confidence he needed. The feeling of stupidity and self-doubt vanished. He didn't need any more validation than the fact that she understood the significance of his ideas. Because, just like how he felt about her, she admired the way his mind saw things differently. Taehyung saw shades of grey where everyone else saw black and white.
