"If we go down then,
We go down together.
We'll get away with anything,
Let's show them we are better."
Percy's POV
I ran through the busy streets of New York, trying to hold my suitcase in one hand while keeping my wig from flying off with my other. The cold wind stung my face as I kept bolting. I held a hand out for a taxi, one stopped in front of me, and I quickly climbed in and told the address.
We reached my house in 10 minutes, and I climbed up the stairs, softly unlocking the door and tip-toeing inside. Looking around, I noticed that no one was home. I sighed in relief.
As I looked around, my eyes caught on a glass jar filled to the brim with blue chocolate chip cookies. I licked my lips and moved forward, grabbing one from the jar. Okay, not one, ten. Nobody needs to know...Nobody needs to know...Nobody- AGH!
I jumped up in surprise to Mom standing there, hands on her hips, and if you ever wondered what an angry pregnant lady looked like, there you have it. She had a scowl on her face as well as a worried expression. I dropped my cookies in surprise and looked at her in shock. Nervously, I gulped the 3 cookies that I had stuffed in my mouth.
"Perseus Jackson! You were supposed to be here twenty minutes ago! Why are you late?" I feel like I'm in school again.
"I'm sorry, the takeoff was delayed! And I couldn't inform all of you because my phone died as I was watching that cute panda video on repeat, and I am so sorry, but I brought you some chocolate, because I know you love chocolate, and I bought some baby items for Estelle and bought groceries on the way home because Thanksgiving is tomorrow and we need to make a lot of food. Thinking of it, I should start with the mashed potatoes right now-" I rambled, scared. My mom never got mad, so the rare times she did, I had to suit up.
Mom sighed, a smile overtook her face, "Classic Percy."
I sighed in relief. "Put the groceries in the kitchen and go upstairs and take a nice bath," Mom commanded me.
I nodded, "Of course, ma'am." And ran upstairs before a flying shoe hit me in the head.
I turned the doorknob on my door and slowly opened it to reveal my room, lacking a certain blonde. I sighed and plopped the suitcase onto the bed. Disappointment hit me like a bullet train. Hadn't Annabeth told me that she had a meeting to go to for the internship? How could I expect her to be here?
Arms wound around my neck and a body pressed against my back. A soft lemony scent invaded my senses. "How was your trip, Seaweed Brain?" Annabeth's voice filled my ears.
I turned around to see her and had to snap my mouth back shut. Apparently, she had gotten even more beautiful in the past 7 days. "It was amazing, Wise Girl." I kissed the top of her forehead. "Also, weren't you supposed to be at an internship interview?"
Annabeth shook her head, "No, my interview was this morning. I wanted to surprise you! By the way, you should get started on your schoolwork since you have about 60 lessons worth of work that you have to do."
I groaned, "I completely forgot about school."
Annabeth patted my shoulder in sympathy, "I'd get started tonight if I were you. But for now, I finally have you to myself." She smiled and leaned up to kiss me. Our lips were centimeters apart when my pocket started vibrating.
I took out my phone to reveal an incoming call from Rachel. Grinning like an idiot, I picked it up and held the phone to my ear. "Hey, Rachel!"
"Hi, Kelp Head! Are you free right now?"
I paused, going through my schedule, and then nodded, "Yeah, why?"
Annabeth sighed and folded her arms, raising an eyebrow at me. She shook her head and went to sit on the chair and take her phone out. I paused again. "Uh, hey Rachel, I'll call you in some time." I hung up on the phone and walked over to Annabeth.
"Actually, I'm not free. I have to spend some time with my lovely girlfriend."
A smile crept onto her face as I pulled her up. I leaned down to give her a kiss when there was a knock at the door. Annabeth and I sighed in unison. I shouted, "It's always open!" Then I muttered, "For some stupid reason..."
Leo poked his head in through the crack and grinned, "Glad y'all decent. Your favorite Latino is here!"
Annabeth frowned, "Really? I mean, it's a bit rocky, but..." She bobbed her head side to side.
Leo rolled his eyes and walked in carrying a flyer. He handed it to us. "Here's an invitation for Luke's party. It's at his house on the 10th of December for his girlfriend or something. I think her name was Amsterdam...Amanda..."
"Amy." Annabeth corrected him.
"That's what I said." Leo scowled.
We shook our heads as Annabeth read the poster. "Questions," I said. "Why are you delivering an invitation to a party that's 2 weeks from now today. Second, why are you even delivering an invitation? Couldn't Luke just call us?"
Leo's eyes widened, "I knew there was another option, I had just forgotten."
I shook my head as Leo went away, and soon I could hear his engine turning on and tires rushing. That guy never ceased to amaze me.
Annabeth turned to me and put her arms around my neck as I put mine around her waist.
"Finally," I grinned. "No more interruptions."
I lowered my head to Annabeth when she leaped from my arms to the door. She turned the lock on it and walked over to me, putting her hands on my chest.
"Now, we won't have any interruptions." She smiled and leaned up to kiss me. I smirked just when her phone started ringing. She laughed and sighed, putting her forehead against mine as my face etched in irritation.
"One last call." She winked and took a step back from me, reading the caller id and smiling. She picked it up and grinned, "So, I heard she'll be here soon."
Some distorted noises came from the other side and Annabeth started laughing and chatting with the unknown person. Looking at my annoyed expression, she bit her lip and said, "Hey, Luke, I'll call you later, okay?"
She hung up on the call and looked at me, "I swear, that was the last call. No more phones from now." She dropped the phone on the bed and pecked me on the cheek.
I gave her a strained smile, "Okay."
Why are things feeling so different now? In just seven days, it feels like everything has changed. There's a tension between the two of us, and now we both will always have somewhere to be.
I still love her and I sure do hope she still loves me.
Doesn't she?
