The Boy Next Door

•Chapter 8•

After school Neera pick me up from school and we went to a little cafe. She wanted to talk about what we are going to do when Cora come into town.

We ordered Coffee and I got a brownie as well. "So you excited." I nodded.

"So what should we do when Cora gets her. Hmm maybe we should give her a tour first so she doesn't get lost." Neera pauses for a minute. "She will still get lost but still." I laugh "yea I think we should do that then we will take her here so she can try the best coffee in the world."

Neera nodded her head while also pointing at me. "OH and then we will take her home so she can meet your boyfriend." I almost spit out my coffee when. She said that.

"Excuse me we are not dating."

"Yet!" I mean she not wrong but still he is not my boyfriend.

"So tell me how is Carter!" She said all excited. "He is good. This morning I broke in to his house and stole his hoodie and food." I point to the hoodie I was wearing.

"That's my sister. And I knew you didn't own a hoodie like that." I laughed.

"Yea yea it is comfy so I might keep it. He won't miss it he has a lot of hoodies." Neera laugh at my little comment. "Ok let's get going we should go to Target and get stuff ready for Cora." I nodded excitedly I love Target it's just a fun place to be when your down.

Neera payed for the coffee and the food. And then we headed out of the cafe.

We arrived at Target and I got out of the car all excitedly.

We walked in and went to the pillows and blankets section. "We should do a baby blue theme." I tell Neera and she nodded. "I like this pillow we should get two and some white pillows." I said as holding a light blue pillow that was fluffy. "Yas that would be perfect. What color should the blankets be?"

"Umm maybe we should do a blue. Or instead of white pillows we do black and it would be a light blue and black and the blankets would still be blue."

"Yes I like that idea better the color scheme is going to be light blue, black and white." I nodded.

After we went shopping for Cora's room we decorated it. It took about an hour to get everything done. Me and Neera we're fighting on where the polar bear little statue should go. I said by her nightstand but Neera said on her desk. Then we just put it on the little table that was by the corner were all the books were. She had a little reading nook.

After we decorated Cora's room I went to my bedroom. While we were at Target I got something for my room as well. I just got elephant thing because elephants are my favorite animal. I place a little elephant statue on my nightstand and the elephant blanket on my bed. After that I just lay on my bed. I got a little tried so I closed my eyes for a bit.

I was walking home from school since Neera was at work and couldn't pick me up and Cora was helping her so I didn't have a ride.

I got to my house and I heard glass break before I was even in the house. I backed up a little. He's home. . . . I walked to the tree and climbed it to get to my room. I didn't want to face him alone. I know mom isn't home right now because her car isn't here. So I would be all alone with no one to protect me.

I open my window as quietly as possible. Heard something else break. Oh boy. I don't know why he is breaking things right now. I think something happened at work. Did he get fired. If he did then he would be home everyday. No no no.

I place my bag down and went to lock my door. I heard footsteps and my heart dropped I ran to go under my bed. Then I heard him punching my door to try and open it.

He kicked the door down. And then I saw his shoes. "Faith were are you." I felt tears running down my face. I put my hand to my mouth so I wouldn't scream. "Found you!" Then I scream I got out from under my bed and try to run away. When he then pulled my hair and I was now on the floor then he lifted his fist an-.

I woke up. All sweaty and tears rolling down my cheek. I was breathing heavily. I put my hand over my heart and my heart was out of control. I haven't had a dream like that since we moved out of that house.

I check my phone to see it was 10 pm. I went to my bathroom and washed my face. Then I texted the one person that come to mind.

Me: hey

Carter<3: hey

Me: what r u doing??

Carter<3: nothing why?

Me: can I come over pls

Carter<3: ofc

I put my phone down for a minute and put my hair in french braids.

I took my phone and went downstairs to see no one was home. I put my shoes on and left.

I knock on his door. And not even a minute went by he open then door. He looked at me with concern in his eyes. I just hugged him. I needed a hug. Luckily he didn't ask any questions and hugged me back. Before I knew it I was off the floor. Carter closes the door me still in his arms. Then he took me to the living room.

He set me down on the couch and sat right next to me. "You want to talk?" He said with a soft voice. I shaked my head no. I felt arms around me and I lean in and just cryed.

I'm glad I met Carter. He is really nice and doesn't question anything about me. He just there when I need him the most even though we met not to long ago I can tell he will be by my side always.

After I cry for a good 30 minutes we talked. About ourselves and a that's stuff. He was then telling me jokes and I laugh so hard my stomach started to hurt. I looked at my phone to see it was midnight.

"Carter I got to go we have school tomorrow." He nodded and followed me to the front door. Before I could leave he stop me.

"I will always be there for don't think otherwise okay." I smile and nod.

"Okay" I whispered I hugged him and said goodbye. I walk over to my house all smiley I was happy.
