I'm laying in bed thinking about life, I'm currently 13 years old, my birthday is tomorrow. I want to feel excited but for some reason I can't, I don't see a point in being excited, it's just a new year of my life. Who can exactly be happy when their birthday was November 14th? That means I was made on Valentine's day, blegh it's honestly disgusting to think about.
"Lucas!" that's my mom calling me, wonder what she wants getting up slowly. She screams for me again "Lucas come here!"
"Coming!" I reply going a bit faster down the stairs I'm greeted by an unfamiliar face and my mother looking at me.
"This is my co-worker's son, we're going out to drink be nice and...Entertain him will you?" I groan in protest but agree finally speaking
"Fineee."
"Good!" She says rushing out the door "Bye Lucas take good care of Mason will you?" She's such a pain sometimes, I look 'Mason' up and down a couple times, he didn't have too bad of taste in clothing wasn't exactly the best though. I sigh before trying to start a conversation with 'Mason'.
"Hi, I'm Lucas I'll assume you're Mason?" he only nods to my inquiry, "What would you like to do then?" He ponders for a second before whispering
"Cuddle." I could barely hear him but what a weirdo, who meets a guy and wants to cuddle him immediately? Without thinking I blurt out.
"That's pretty gay my dude." He looks apologetic enough, I sigh understanding the guy probably didn't have much interaction, I offer a wry smile before speaking once more. "We're not gonna cuddle but we can go outside and watch the stars, there should be a meteor shower tonight" He nods, I speak up once more "I'll be right back with a couple blankets then" I book it upstairs grabbing some blankets and coming back down then heading to the backyard. Mason starts following me as he was still at the opening to the stairs.
"You have pretty eyes" I look at Mason with a puzzling look as he follows me and he starts fiddling with his fingers "Your eyes, they're pretty, kind of look like the sea" he mumbles a bit at the end.
"I- uh thanks I guess?" I was pretty flustered as I don't get compliments often and just opened the backyard door starting to set out the blankets as I was doing this I got on my knees to fix the corners and Mason hugged me from behind, it was weird I patted his hand he had around me "Uh buddy you can let go now, please."
"Sorry, I..." he trails off and let go quickly, I can now understand why I'm looking after him even though he's most likely older than me, maybe 15?
It's about 9 now, I drag Mason outside again as we had gotten some snacks, he had done some weird shit again, he first draped his arms across my shoulders as he's a bit taller and squeezed me, after I stated I was uncomfortable with this he picked me up and hugged me that way. It was super weird. Like attention deprived much? Anyways I'm dragging him outside, I am pretty excited for the meteor shower to start, always looks pretty cool, pretty sure this one is called November Orionids.
"Slow down you're gonna pull my arm off." Mason exasperates from behind me, I shrug it off and fling the door open, Mason closes it as he comes out, I look up and we had made it just in time. I sigh in relief as the first one went. "I guess we made it in time then?" I nod not saying a thing or taking my eyes off the sky I let go of Mason's hand that I dragged him with and lay down on them blanket I had set out for myself earlier.
It truly was a beautiful night...The next day not so much but that isn't for hours to come.
