At the far right end of the art hallway is where I saw you. You turned the corner with your lips curled into a smile, and laughter on your breath. I saw your worn out sneakers and I saw your arms, which i envied so, because they were held so close to your side; where I longed to be. Your utter presence stopped me in my tracks, it held the words I spoke on my lips. My heart jumped out of my chest, wanting to be closer to him. My heart drifted out of the double doors, trailing behind you. It followed you down the sidewalk and into your car, but you never noticed it. When I saw you the next day it was still close on your heels, but still, you didn't notice. I looked down at the empty hole where my heart had once sat and I wondered what would fill it. Maybe one day you'll see me turn the corner. Maybe one day your heart will jump out of your chest, And maybe, if I'm lucky, I'll find it trailing me.
