Day 1

I wake up. I look around. All I can see was black. Black. Black. Black. It spreads for what seems like miles. There is no light. I don't know who I am. What I am. Where I came from. Or how I got here. For some reason, I am completely calm. I feel... nothing. I sit down in my bed and gradually, I fall back to sleep. I do not have any dreams. It is a quiet night.

Day 2

I wake up. I feel the same as yesterday, except something has changed. I look out for the nth time into the vast nothingness. Something has changed, yet I can't yet understand what it is. I sit down on my bed, thinking. I contemplate why I am here. I close my eyes, and again slowly fall back to sleep. Tonight though, I dream. I dream of a light, one singular light, shining bright yet it is only focused in a small area. I try to go toward it but realize I will lose my bed. I am being held back by the thought that I will lose the only thing I know if I try to pursue it.

Day 3

I wake up. I look out into the dark, and see the light I saw in my dream. I am quite intrigued. But there is one thing I see that I did not notice in my dream. The light was getting bigger! I see it slowly enlarging in my field of vision, coming toward me, and I hear a faint noise. A whirring, ticking noise. As it comes toward me I can make out its feature. It has a thin head, a needle sized neck, a large abdomen, wheels, and the light shining right at the center of its chest. Slowly it rolls over to me, whirring and clicking the whole time. Then as soon as it reaches me it stops. "Hello, you are test subject 4607." it said. "I have come to monitor your progress as you develop in this place. I say nothing. I understand the words she is saying but cannot replicate the same language back. "In time you shall learn to love this place." it says. "Here is something to keep you company." it hands me a large sphere with a small star on it. "This is your friend sphere." it says. "You will come to love it." It has an eerie voice. It sounds somewhat feminine, yet it sounds so unnatural and unsettling. "Oh, by the way, I am A.S.T.O.R. this stands for Anaglow Science Test Observation Robot." "Also my programming has created me a woman." "I shall come back with food and water, and I will accompany you through your tests." she says. "Thank you and goodnight." She leaves, slowly whirring away. I am scared, I haven't felt scared since I came but she... it... was so unsettling. After a long while I head to sleep.

Day 4

I wake up. I think about what happened the day before, A.S.T.O.R. coming to my small little corner in this vast expanse of nothingness. I look over to see my friend sphere. It reminds me of A.S.T.O.R. so I pick it up and throw it into the vast abyss of black. She said she would come back today yet, to be quite honest, I do not want her to come back. She, if you can even call her that, brings out a primal fear in me. So, I just sit, on edge waiting for my food to come as she said she would bring to me today. As soon as she mentioned food, I realized just how hungry I was. After waiting for what seems like hours, I see that light and I hear that whirring noise, slowly she comes into view, holding absolutely nothing. For a moment, I am scared that she has not brought my food but then she opens up a small compartment near that wretched light of hers and gets out a plate. I try to take the plate hastily, eager to see what is on it. Before, I can grab it out of its metallic grasp, it turns away and tells me "Tomorrow I will not be coming back so make good use of what you have." As she turns away I can hear her mutter "Worthless subject." I look down at the food, it looks like someone has thrown-up on the plate and handed it to me, all sludgy and repulsive. Reluctantly, I picked up the spoon, still quite hungry, and slowly gulp it down. It tastes absolutely horrible. After eating I sit back down and slowly fall back to sleep.
