"Claire what do you think about the world?" I asked the 8 year old as she seemed so easy to enjoy life, watching her new pet rabbit jump around the room. She looks at me like I'm funny for asking.

"It's big and adventurous!" She gleem's at me and I can't help but feel charmed at her winning smile. I was sitting at Emily's with her as we both were the one's with the most of nothing to do. I was going to practice with Drew, but his newfound lover and him in Forks, decided they were too occupied. But I can't say I wasn't so very happy for him, I was genuinely so.

"Okay then what if the world was small and boring, would you still want it?" She frowned, thinking over my question.

"Maybe, I mean it's still my only world I'd have to love it." I couldn't stop the grin finding it's way on my face at this child who seemed so smart for her age. I take in her short stature and dark hair and skin to mine and would think she'd pass as my sister.

"Come eat lunch, Effie, Claire!" Emily says from the kitchen. I race Claire to the table and watch how she scarfs down the sandwich I look to Emily.

"Wolf?" I question, Em laughs.

"I sure hope not." I hoped not too, her already being wrapped up with one was stressful enough, trust me on that.

"C'mon Claire show me your best howl."

Just as instructed she let's out the most dreadfully annoying howl there was, I laughed until I heard the howl that matched up with it. It was a wolves howl, the packs danger howl and they were coming this way. I run out to the porch, and I'm met with Quil, carrying a girl I've never met before up to the steps, almost rushing her in.

"Quil, what is it?!" He looks at me seriously.

"Paul imprinted on Jake's sister, he's lost control." Just as he says it two wolves come barrowing into the yard. The russet one on top of the silver one, but it quickly becomes opposites as they bite the hell out of each other. I hear screaming in my head and I realize I'm in the link.

'How dare you?! How fucking dare you?!' It's Jacob, but the voice, it's on an edge I've never heard before and I couldn't move my feet for a minute to understand.

'I can't help it!' Paul screams right back before biting into Jacob's shoulder. That led me to running down the steps, the other wolves surrounding but none jumping in.

'Stop!' I scream into the link and just like that Paul's feet stop, but Jacob's seem to not hear a word as he pounces back at Paul and they're back to it again. I use my powers and I throw Paul one way and Jacob the other, it's like rage and no other has taken over Jacob but I know I must stop Paul first. So standing in between them I use my energy holding a shield up against Paul, he wouldn't be able to get past and now I just had to get one up for Jacob. But that thought was soon dust as I feel the incredible pain in my left shoulder down to my lower back. I can't process at all what is happening until I fall to the ground, the shield breaking as well leading me to look up at Paul's silver wolf hovering over me.

'Bethany, Bethany, you hurt Bethany!' I hear over and over in my head. 'Paul didn't hurt me, I'm okay' I say but I can't move, not an inch. 'Jacob what did you do?!' Any noise stops at that statement, reeling in it but then, my ears catch wind of a crying form from the porch; I crane my neck and it's Emily: hand over here mouth, looking on the edge of a breakdown.

Warm arms encamp me and suddenly I'm lifted up and being ran with at a speed I couldn't comprehend at first. The pain mixed with the tiredness of putting up with the pain, I close my eyes for rest.

Jacob's POV:

I was on Patrol with Sam and Quil, I had been since morning and was ready to go home or even back to the garage to work. But probably home first to shower, see Beth, then take her with me to work. I loved working at my own, having my favorite assistant there with me.
