Greetings to my readers! This is my first shot to write a story here on Wattpad. Hopefully, you'll find it interesting and get indulge in this magical story.

CHAPTER 1

The smell of paper and ink lingered in the air and the only sound is a soft patter of feet on the thick, soft plush carpet, whispers, and the occasional hum of a copy machine. It felt like a shelter of refuge; Warm, abiding, accepting.

I was sitting beside a window overlooking the center of the University. It felt like forever waiting for my friend to come and check what I was working on all night. I started to drift into the warm, peaceful feeling and slowly closed my eyes.

Suddenly I heard these distinct footsteps towards me, slowly I can hear it clearly. Then there was a firm tap on my shoulder.

"Hey! How are you doing with your research on the artifact?" Cara asked with a low voice, as she stared at my paper works on the table.

When I heard her I still feel sleepy so I shuffled my arms hitting something near me.
A book fell on the floor making a loud thud and knocking me out of my haze.

"W-w-w-what?!" I asked, wiping my mouth.
She giggled and looked at me amused. "Are you okay, Erin?"

"Yeah, I just feel tired. I stayed late last night trying to finish my research," I said while reaching for my book on the floor.

"Don't push yourself too much. Sometimes, give yourself a break," she said, squinting her eyes on me.

"Ok, I'll try to-
Before I can finish what I was going to say, the bell rang. I grabbed my books and papers.

"Never mind, let's just proceed to our next class."

Cara became my closest friend when I started living in the big city to pursue my dreams. I met her on our first day of class. She was kind and friendly at the same time cool because I never thought she has lots of ideas about many types of knives and guns. She is also very bookish and clumsy sometimes.

One time we went to visit a nearby museum to check on the artifacts and evidence of the past centuries. We saw various old things with a great history. I really never forget that day when I got inside. It was big with so many things to check, especially weapons of the past. It was my first time visiting a big museum and I was so happy to see the things I only read in the books. Finally, I can see it in person.

We always spend our free time in the library, reading books and sharing ideas about the kingdom of Ballaghmore. Sometimes we also sit under the tree at the campus just to take a nap or watch people come and go.

Two months later, we had our graduation ceremony. It was the happiest moment of our lives because after all those sleepless nights of preparation we had reached the final day. I spend the last moment with my friends taking pictures, chatting, and giggling with them. Afterwards, I searched for Cara through the crowd and saw her with an old man.

I ran to her where they are standing and greeted them. " I have been looking for you this whole time," I said to Cara before hugging her tight.

"Well, I guess this is goodbye. Don't forget to keep in touch. I will miss you," I told her with teary eyes.

She hugged me back and said, "Thank you, Erin. Likewise, don't forget to call me."

There was this sad feeling within me knowing I will not see her for a while when I let her go. Then I noticed her company was beckoning her to join him. Cara hugged me one more time before she left me.
