I barely had time to drink my coffee before Sam was talking my ear off. Given that it was Saturday, I woke up at twelve. My shift started at two. If my alarm wouldn't have worked, I wouldn't have even been able to pick up a coffee in the first place.

"Emma, can you come to the maintenance room with me for a moment?"

I just blinked at him. "Can I put my things down first?"

"Not yet." His tone was weird. He reminded me of a child who was excited about something to the point where he could barely keep it a secret. His eyes were wide. To my right, I saw someone come out of the locker room I didn't recognize. A boy with brown, curly hair. He was skinny, and probably younger than me. "That's our newest hire. His name is Adam. Anyways, just follow me."

I manage to exchange a 'hey' with Adam before looking back at Sam. He always already walking away. "Hey – wait!"

"There is no waiting right now. He's about to be turned on." That almost made me freeze in my tracks. Sam had sent me a text yesterday saying that the animatronics had all been successfully powered on. And judging by the way he referred to it, I guessed he thought I would know exactly what he meant. I followed him into the room, and the technicians were all crowding around something. "Gentlemen."

I slowly approached. As the technicians split to move to the computers, one remained against the wall, standing behind their newest addition to the place. When I caught a glimpse of it, I could feel my hand shaking. My eyes scanned it over and over, trying to convince my brain that it was real. It looked real. It looked too real. "Is that...?"

Sam, on the other hand, had a grin a mile wide plastered on his face. "Emma, meet our newest friend, the king of Fazbear's Fright. Springtrap!"

It was most definitely Springtrap. It was just standing there, with the upper half of its body hanging limp. When they mentioned it being complex, I didn't think they would take it this far. It was almost eight feet tall. Its body was dark green and brown, and they even went so far as to make the outer body look like it had blood stains on it. Not from others, but the incident itself. Beyond the surface was visible, realistic muscle tissue. Beyond that were realistic bones. There was an entire skeleton in there, as well as the spring-locking endoskeleton. Its face was the exact same as the games. Its grin was broken, tattered, and evil and it was missing most of its right ear. There was no doubt that thing could overpower anyone. If there would have been someone wearing it as a costume, I wouldn't have had a problem, but this thing was its own independent entity.

"Stand back!"

That brought me back to the situation at hand. The technicians were chatting like crazy. Mark was the one who yelled, and another technician pressed a button inside the neck of the endoskeleton. He was quick to run away from the animatronic after that. One of the technicians was standing with something that reminded me of a taser at the ready. My best guess was that it was meant to overload the system and shut it down if it malfunctioned – or became aggressive. When I heard it power on, the first thing I noticed were the big, glowing eyes open. They were gray, and it immediately picked its head up after that. Its hands and arms moved shortly after, and it looked down at its own palms. It moved its fingers. It moved its mouth slightly, exposing the human skull jaw inside of it. Then, it looked right down at me. It took one step forward, and I took one step back, tripping in the process. I dropped my coffee, spilling most of it.

"Whoa, you okay?" Sam had managed to catch me before I fell.

"I'm okay." Springtrap's eyes were still plastered on me before it looked around the room, and then down at the coffee spill. "I'm sorry about the coffee."
