A deathly silence came through the radio, and Alex got a terrible feeling. Had he just led the twenty men to their deaths? The silence was deafening.

"Threat neutralized. Two men wounded. One guard captured. Over"

Alex breathed a sigh of relief. Only wounded, not killed. Smithers also looked relieved. But the relief was short lived.

"Smithers, they are getting out of the cars..."
"Start the lockdown."
"right away."

Smithers turned to look at him.
"We've got this alex, focus on the job."
 He nodded.

"Once you've entered the main storage area, there should be shelves with contraband. Over."
"Contraband detected, beginning sweeping pass. Over."

Alex nodded. They had found what they were looking for, and captured a prisoner. Assuming the rest of the mission went well, there would be grounds for the arrest of Blair. But, on their side, it wasn't going great.

"Smithers they have guns!"
"Raise the shields. Now."

Alex heard a loud mechanical whirring, and as he looked to find the source, he saw metal sheets slide up over the windows. Smithers really had gone full out.

"Beginning retreat, evidence sampled and secured. Over."
"Ok, good. Em, we have company. Multiple men, all armed. Over."
A pause. "We'll be there as soon as we can. Over"

Smithers had moved to a panel, covered in switches and buttons.

"Alex! Call for backup!"

Smithers was shouting over the sound of the shields.

"Already done that!"
Smithers put a thumb up.

"Units clear of the compound. Beginning preparations for extraction. Over."

The windows were nearly finished closing. Alex flinched, as a gunshot hit the shields. It was followed by another shot, and Alex heard shouting. He ran to the window, taking a peak over the edge of the closing shield.

"ALEX NO!"

Glass showered down on him, and Alex ducked as it coated his back. He fell backwards, managing to roll to the side, avoiding most of the glass.

"Are you alright!?"
"Yeah, am i bleeding?"
"You're stupid Alex! You could have been blinded!"
"They're not Blairs men. One of them has the snakehead logo tattooed on his head. I think i saw some heavy weaponry."
"They're here for you..."

Alex heard a sound in his ear.
"We are taking off now. We will arrive in less than ten minutes. Over."
"It's the snakeheads. They have some heavy weaponry. Possibly a rocket propelled grenade. Over."

He stepped over the shattered glass, shaking some fragments from his hair. Smithers was looking at him expectantly.

"They're ten minutes away."
"Good. Until then, just stay away from the bloody windows!"
"Fine!"

Alex sat back down. Crossing his legs and putting his hands behind his head. Smithers tutted at him, almost sarcastically. He shot out of the chair when the shields where hit by a heavy weight. Rather than it pinging, it resonated, like a drum.

"What the hedge was that?"
"I'll check the CCTV footage from across the road."
"Good."
"Ok...they shot something up, and it's magnetically stuck to the metal. It looks like an explosive of some sort."
"Oh no."
