HARLEY
The rhythm of blood was throbbing in my temple. The pain was the only thing I could focus on. Everything else was dark. It was almost like I could hear the sound of my brain crashing against my skull, over and over again.
I tried to concentrate, ignore the throbbing and focus on something else. I started feeling the rest of my body. First my neck, then my arms, chest, and stomach all came rushing back to me. I tried to move my pinky. It felt heavy. Soon my legs were back, they were tingling.
I felt my entire body waking up. Relieve was first, but the pain quickly overtook it. Starting with one of my shoulders. My wrists felt dry and raw, they ached. The worst pain was still my head.
I tried to open my eyes, but the searing pain made it impossible. I started listening to the sounds around me instead. I could hear several sounds. There was a rhythmic beeping, it was speeding up. I couldn't quite distinguish who was speaking, but I heard voices as well. It sounded like there were quite a few people.
"Quiet down, I think she's waking up."
I was certain that the voice was Sams. I'd recognize her southern drawl anywhere.
Sam was there, I had to open my eyes. I felt them twitch, then slowly I managed to open them. Fluorescent lights blinded me for a moment. I blinked a few times, getting used to the light. I stretched out my fingers, but only my right hand moved. In a moment of panic, I looked down at my arms resting comfortably on a bed. There was some form of bandage on my wrists, along with an IV going into my vein. I was in the hospital.
Why was I in the hospital?
"Hey, hey. It's okay." Sam spoke hesitantly.
I looked up at Sam, her normally beautifully set red curls were in a tangled rat's nest above her head. Mascara was smeared under her eyes. Her cheeks were puffy, and her eyes were swollen. It was more than obvious that she'd been crying.
I tried to furrow my brow but winced in pain instead. Looking past my best friend I saw that I was in a small hospital room, connected to several machines. Niall and Liam were squished together on a small couch parallel to my bed. Sam was sitting on the edge of the bed, by my feet. Cam was pacing around the room.
Everyone who cared about me in New Mexico was here. Watching over me, making sure I was okay. From whatever accident I was in. Everyone except the person I wanted to be here the most, Harry.
"Where's Harry?" I croaked. My throat felt sore and hoarse, I needed water to soothe it.
Sam grabbed my hands with tears in her eyes, "Oh my God, you're awake! How are you feeling? Go get the Doctor." She ordered Liam out of the room.
I was glad to see things between them were going well. Liam needed someone to order him around who wasn't a customer, and Sam needed someone to order around that wasn't me.
"Umm, well my head hurts like a bitch, my shoulders and arms are pretty sore. Not to mention the wrists. Pretty much my whole body hurts. Where's Harry?" I asked again, this time my voice sounded smoother.
I looked past Sam's pitiful eyes right to Cam. He'd stopped pacing and was staring right at me. His face was paler than usual, a sickly pale. His normally bright blue eyes were dull. "Cameron," I let go of Sam's hands and lifted my arm in the air, "What happened."
Sam moved out of the way, Cameron's lengthy body took her spot. He clutched my hand in his and sat on the bed. "Harry's in surgery."
Harry's in surgery? He's in the hospital too? No, no, this isn't happening. I, no, how?
