MARNIE WAS WORKING. She was working a five hour shift until 9 which is why she had to decline her offer to going to the gay bar in Leeds that Missy was wanting to take Nas to.
She really wanted to go, she'd love to have an excuse to get glammed up and ready to go and have a few drinks with the girls, dance horrendously with Missy and take celebration shots with Nas for plucking up the courage to come out to them, but she was a working woman. She wasn't able get off work with such small notice, it was so last minute. Missy had almost convinced her to pull a sickie until her mum had said she'd washed and ironed her uniform for her and she took it as a sign she took to just get on with it and go. Besides, she couldn't say to her mum she were going to Leeds to a gay bar, the woman would laugh in her face for being funny!
Even if she snuck out, which she was very good at doing, she didn't know if getting a train back home drunk was the best idea: the second she'd get home, her mum would be able to just smell the drink on her.But she was oh so jealous, nevertheless. She didn't even want to think about what they were doing while she served customers all afternoon behind the till.
It was pitch black an hour before she could leave and she couldn't wait to get home; to get into her warm room and watch TV in her cozy bed — but before she could do even that, she had something else to do!
She had worn Cory's hoodie home.
Whilst changing into her work uniform, she sensed the mistake and so brought it to work with her in her handbag, deciding she could drop it into him on her way home. She knew what her mum was like when she came home with an article of her uniform missing, whether it was her cardigan or school scarf, she always warned her to have it found the next day. So, she didn't like the thought of Cory and Jordan's dad being the same. Uniforms were bloody expensive! Since she began working, she understood why parents were so annoyed when pieces got lost.It was 8:00 o'clock in the shop and there was about 1 person in the place. Marnie was watching her take her time, walking up and down the aisles as she stood with her elbows on the counter, her head on her hands and her eyes threatening to close. She'd had nearly 2 Redbulls and they had done nothing for her.
The more she through about what Missy and Nas were doing, the harder it was to get through her shift.
Marnie was clinging to her uniform jacket for warmth.
Missy and Nas were running about Leeds in the sparkliest, pink and blue dress.
Marnie was yawning at the checkout.
Missy and Nas were buying shots.
Marnie was considering getting another energy drink.
Missy was dancing with a Drag Queen.
Marnie was watching an elderly lady place her items on her till slower than a sloth in a tree.
Nas was blinded by disco lights above the DJ booth.
Marnie wanted to get into bed.
Missy never wanted to leave this gay bar.
She had been busy all day, stocking up shelves and also running tills as they had been short-staffed. She'd barely had the time to check her phone, let alone use the bathroom. She'd closed the store just half an hour before she was supposed to so she could use the bathroom without coming back to a complaining customer, so she rushed to the room and locked the door behind her.
The first time she'd checked her phone all day had about 15 unread messages in total: 3 from Missy, 1 from her mum, and 11 from Hayley.Hayley
