The Daycare lights were nowhere to be seen from the small crack beneath the large, wooden door; so Aspen nudged the large man who walked beside her.Oscar looked around unknowingly, though watched as she pointed toward the Daycare.
Realization struck Aspen the moment she first heard the Moon animatronic. Oscar, who was fast asleep in her office, doesn't usually do as much as speak to the animatronics. He saw something unsettling in them, something Aspen refused to see; refused to believe.
As big and tough as Oscar was, he was a gushy heart on the inside— and as he had expressed many times, there's something so unnatural about these robots being so much like us.
Aspen would only reply with how smart the world was getting— though Oscar even went on to say he even swore he saw Monty get a hard-on. He'd ramble on and on about how that was unnecessary, why they should be so similar to humans.
If only he knew.
"That's what I was going to ask you about," she mumbled, "the lights were shut off. Now, I don't think you would've done this, but I had a surprisingly intimidating meet with the Nighttime Attendant. They told me Vanessa shut the lights down."
Disbelief. The moment when his eyebrows shot up to his eyebrows signifies the shock he expressed. "Come on, darling, the thing is an animatronic. They don't know."
"Yes, but they're much smarter than we are," she whispered, gesturing to the door. "This... thing, doesn't fool around. You should've seen it crawling around on four legs... heard the noise it made."
Oscar grimaced at the deathly thought of it. He was glad he hadn't encountered it, for either he would be dead, or it would be dead.
"Alright, alright," he raised his hands in defeat, "it's smarter, sure. But did she really do it, or did the Daytime Attendant do it?"
Disbelief now left his eyes, and seemingly a viral disease, entered her own. "Have you ever heard their desperate requests for the lights to remain on? Lights on, on, on!" Mimicked Aspen as she jabbed a finger into Oscar's chest. "I don't think the Sun wants the Moon to have its turn."
Grabbing her hand and throwing it to the side, Oscar sighed a breath— one that held confusion and a frown. He couldn't face the fact that Vanessa, a fellow co-worker and assumed friend, was being so odd.
"Fine; I believe you," he responded. "If you turn on the Daycare lights, I'll put everything else into motion."
As he said this, the front door unlocked and in strolled many Security Guards, suited up and ready for the day.
"Hey, hey!" One called out to Aspen and Oscar, "the lovebirds aren't arguing, are they?"
Oscar fought back a shit-eating grin. And responded, "you wouldn't dream of it!"
But, as the cocky Security Guard approached and stuck his hand out to place on Aspen's shoulder, she, surprisingly, grabbed it.
He yelled out in pain as she twisted her arm with a surprising strength, pulling him in closer and saying, "don't you forget that I'm your boss now, Ari. You wanna play?"
Usually, when she wasn't head woman, she and the rest of the guards would play and tackle each other around. For a group of guys via one girl, they couldn't believe her strength.
Ari smirked and pulled his arm free of her grip. "I think I'd be fired. God, your grip got even stronger!"
The guys surrounding them hollered and guffawed with laughter, splitting off in their own seperate ways; but not before giving Aspen many firm hits on the shoulder. She was accepted.
