I swear it felt like my cheeks were going to explode, I probably spent 90% of the day smiling, telling jokes and cheering others up. Did anyone ever do the same in return for me? No. I didn't expect them to though, they always thought I was a naturally happy and caring person. Don't get me wrong I was happy to an extent, but constantly acting like nothing bothered me got old real fast.
I sat on the couch listening to Sammy rant about the girl he was currently seeing, Nate and Jack G were very interested in the details. Frankly, I didn't really want to hear any of it. I was still going through a hard time with a recent breakup and missed having someone to talk to and spoil. Despite being torn up about this, I continued to put a smile on my face for the world to see. As Sammy talked, I did my usual head nod and smile to make it look like I was paying attention.
"So Johnson what do you think I should do?" Sammy asked.
"Hmmm yeah definitely do it." I said as I tuned back into the conversation.
"Wait, you think I should actually make things official with her? I haven't had a girlfriend like ever." Sammy said shocked.
"Oh I meant don't. You're never one for relationships." I sighed causing the guys to give me questionable looks.
"Are you okay bro?" Jack asked me.
"Actually no." I said as the all the guys jaws dropped.
"Wait, what?" Nate said.
"You heard me." I said.
"Woah sassy Jack is back in business." Sammy muttered.
"I'm not being sassy, I swear you guys don't give two shits about my feelings or personal life. You act like I don't have problems in my life." I said feeling so relieved I was getting this all out.
"But you're always so happy and cheery?" Jack asked.
"Don't you ever think it could be an act? There's no way a person could be happy 24/7, no way." I said.
"Bro, I'm sorry we didn't pick up on this. We just always thought you know that you were so carefree and that nothing got to you. What do you want to talk about? You know we'll listen." Nate said as the rest of the guys nodded.
"Well you guys know me and Y/N broke up a few weeks ago. I'm going through a tough time with that currently. I miss having someone I can talk to, take out and spoil and well you obviously doing stuff in the bedroom. I miss her and I don't know if I should reach out to her. I'm just conflicted." I said looking around at the guys who were listening intently.
"Does she make you happy and not this fake happy you've been putting on for us?" Sammy asked.
"Extremely happy. I feel so comfortable and myself around her." I said smiling at the thought of Y/N.
"That's the smile we know and love Young Johnson." Jack said in his mock British accent.
"Go call your girl, win her back!" Nate said smiling.
"Thanks guys!" I said as I stood up.
"Johnson, just remember we're here for you always and never feel like you have to put on some fake act just to impress us. We won't kill you if you're upset or you put your needs before ours." Jack said.
"I promise I won't fake emotions anymore, it's nice to know I have friends that will always be by my side no matter what." I said with a genuine smile on my face.
