Iris

The first day of school. The beginning of a new year filled with knowledge, friendship, and opportunity. At least that's what the sign outside the school had displayed across it. School was basically a giant, ugly fallacy. The outside looks bright and cheery, adorned with "Welcome Back Hawks!" signs and smiling faculty waving at the hoard of students. The inside matches the outside, but one can feel the anxiety floating in the air.

Iris knew the truth about school: it was utter bullshit. The teachers may be smiling now, but their demon intentions would shine through by the second day. School isn't about learning, it's about bullshitting your way through assignments and trying to keep your GPA higher than your self esteem. It's about putting on a faux personality so the mean Senior girls won't eat you alive and use your carcass to warn the freshman that the upper classmen own this shit. It's about pretending to give a damn about learning, but all you care about is eating, taking naps, and quite possibly putting a bullet in your head. Bull. Shit.

"Honey, please wipe that frown off your face. It's your last year of high school, be happy, make friends," Cathy said, sending Iris a reassuring smile. Cathy didn't understand the truth about school, for her experience was easy. She was insanely smart, drop dead gorgeous without any makeup on (even prettier with it on), and absurdly friendly. Everybody had liked her, and she made it through her four years with the highest grades and a scholarship to Yale.

Iris sighed and rolled her eyes, giving no response. Her high school life wasn't as easy. Sure, she was pretty, but only after spending nearly an hour in front of the mirror. She had blonde hair, but it was blunt and totally not the blonde that Barbie would go for. Her eyes were plain and brown, and skin the shade of Casper the albino ghost. She was healthy, but not super-model thin like the Queen Bitches of her school. She was popular, but only because of the fake life that she had built up in order to make friends.

Another bullshit year for the master of creating bullshit.

Burke

It was his first time ever walking into an American school. He could already tell it was going to be bullshit. He could practically see the dust piled in some of the other students' brains. In fact, most students practically painted "I'm a fucking idiot" on their foreheads by acting like, well, fucking idiots.

His mind wandered to every country that'd he'd ever attended school at: France.
Australia, England, Sweden. All of those schools were practically island retreats compared to this place, and this was supposedly one of the nicest schools in the entire state of Florida. "We should've moved to New York City, or Italy, or anywhere but here," he mumbled to himself.

This school didn't even have a dress code. The students were a rainbow of colorful clothing and hair. The girl next to him practically had her boobs pushed out as far as they could go without exposing nipple. He didn't judge her for it, he just wasn't used to seeing that much tit at school.

"Hey pretty boy, I'll suck your dick if you let me take your fine ass car for a spin after school," a loud voice shouted. If he was correct, that voice came from a guy, presumably from the guy that actually looked like he was a part of the upper class .

"Excuse me?" Burke replied, running his hand through his dark brown hair. Every girl at the table was extremely attractive, and he felt himself giving a charming smirk in their direction.

The guy stood up and extended his hand towards Burke, "I'm Marcus, and I saw you drive up in that fine car this morning. I was kidding about sucking your dick for a ride, but I'm sure one of these whores around here might fulfill my offer."

Burke laughed slightly, "I'm Burke."

"What kind of pussy name is that? And why do you talk so funny? Please don't tell me that you're a twink."

"Leave him alone Marcus. He doesn't need your asshole antics to ruin his first day here," a blonde girl flatly stated. She stood up as the bell rang, and grabbed Burke's schedule. "Your first class is AP English, with me. Follow me or get lost in the halls of hell. Watch out for the fresh faced fucker freshmen, they tend to walk in hoards like lost puppies."

She never told him her name, and quite frankly, he was too afraid to ask. He obediently followed her to the class and took the seat behind her.

As the teacher walked in, she turned around, "I'm Iris. If you decide to kill yourself, please lend me a gun so I can join you." She faced the front, but turned back to him quickly, "Oh, and don't stare at my ass anymore or I'll cut of your nuts and serve them to you on a silver platter."

Burke was terrified, yet intrigued. His original hypothesis was proven: school in America is complete bullshit.
