🅷umans were no longer bound to sea and land. With their windgliders they crossed the skies, they were able to touch the clouds from the high buildings that soon arose. They did not need to find food in nature; instead they farmed their crops and held animals. But still, the kind Archons, that stood symbol for each element they were given, were worshipped. They all represented different things to the humans. These Archons build their cities, and granted lucky mortals their powers. And so, the legendary Seven were more important than ever.

Only few knew about Lady Serena, being eighth. And that was something those few could not understand. It was Serena that kept balance. If she hadn't been there, the worlds would simply implode. The Maiden of the Void was the worldkeeper.

So one day, the followers went up to theri Archon, and asked her: "Why is it so, that you are the one keeping all worlds in balance, but only we know of you and worship you?" "Why don't you ask the people?" Lady Serena questioned them.

They agreed to do so, and on their way, they gained a lot of knowledge, yet it was not the knowledge they seeked. Asking people about Lady Serena would leave them with answers that told them nearly the same. "Lady Serena, who's that?", "never heard of it", "Are you sure she's an Archon?" Out of those answers, the followers made an assumption. "People don't know you, that's why they do not worship you." they stated. But Lady Serena disagreed. "People see. And what they see, they believe. My power isn't visible, nor will it help people's lives. My knowledge goes beyond their understanding, beyond what they want to know. It is you, true knowledge-seekers, that are able to unravel the knowledge hidden by the fog of ignorance."

The followers of Lady Serena nodded; now they understood. They wrote down all they had learned on their travels, and decided to build a city. A city where knowledge could be shared. A city where one and all would be welcome, if only they'd open their minds.

They crossed various domains, until they reached the coast and set sail for the unknown. With the help of their Archon they safely reached an unoccupied piece of land. Its shores were rocky and it's days were wet and cold, but they would make the best of it. And so, a city arose; a city where not a church but a library was the center of the town square and where books were free to get. They called it Gotham. For the ones that did not reside there, Gotham was nothing but a whisper, a legend to lure adventures to sea and get them killed in her icy waves and dark storms.

But then, one of them did return. Mondstadt decided that if Gotham was real, they should at least try to lay contact. And so they found it. Another city across the sea, further away then any of the others. If it was ment like that, they did not know. A friendship began between Mondstadt and Gotham began, for none of the cities were ruled by an Archon. A friendship that, even now, still lasts. Trading partners.

Legend has it that Lady Serena is still among Gotham's citizens. But the old stories are starting to fade, for facts are more important then stories, and the Maiden of the Void hasn't been seen in centuries....
