I smiled at him as he drove the Jeep through the thick trees that sat to close to the dirt road that we drove on. He looked beautiful. His dark brown hair falling into his face over and over again with every bump. The smile that was plastered on his lips. His green eyes bright with excitement. He was enjoying himself. He'd raved about this trip for months.

"Alright, first we're going to go hiking. You bought hiking boots, right? Noah, I told you to buy hiking boots. You did right? Sorry, I should have checked. We can tur-"

"Benjamin. Calm down" I laughed cutting him off. He was a nervous wreck. He has been stressing out for weeks. He was with me when I bought the boots. "Last weekend we bought boots. Remember?"

He sighed in relief and flashed a smile at me before turned toward the road again "Right, right. This is going to be great"

Ben had this planned since Christmas. Once we graduated we'd spend a week at his family cabin, enjoy ourselves. Then spend the rest of the summer driving from California to New York, take our time to see the sights.

And once we get back to California we'll be back to school. To university. Ben wanted to be a teacher. I was going to be a therapist.

We've been together for three years. Known each other for four. I can remember when I first saw him. He was wearing a stupid All-American Rejects band T, with blue skinny jeans. Leaning over a lunch table trying to steal Kelly Youvette's fries.

Kelly and I had had been good friends since elementary school, so I walked over and sat down beside him. Ben had given up his fight for fry freedom and sat down across from us.

"Hey. I'm Ben" He smiled at me, meeting his green eyes with my blue. From that moment on I knew. I knew he was special. More than special. He was perfect.

We didn't want to start dating right away. So we'd agree to be friends and see where it lead us. And it lead us here. Three years into a serious relationship. A pending apartment that we were planning on moving into just before school started up again. Our parents got along very well, they played cards every Sunday night.

My cousin Aron and his sister Emi where best friends. Everything in our lives where going right. Maybe we'd get a pet when we got the apartment. I always wanted a dog.

"What are you thinking about?" Ben asked shaking me out of my thoughts.

"What do you think of a dog?" I asked looking over at him. He looked like he was in genuine thought

"I'm more of a cat person" He smirked

"Want both than?"

He laughed and nodded "Both will do."
