First job

3rd person Pov

A formation of 3 Blackhawks flew over the trees . Inside of each we're Soldiers waiting and preparing.

The voice of one of the helicopter pilots came through the coms

"We're nearing the smog, mask up."
The soldiers complied, putting on their gas masks was second nature to them.

POV: Lukas
I pulled my hood over my head followed by my mask and helmet. I sat back, leaning my head on the edge of the open door and watched as we flew past the trees. Then we entered the smog, you could hardly see anything. We're I once saw trees was now thick fog. I had an uneasy feeling, I guess it's nothing to be surprised about. I wasn't scared I don't think more nervous than anything.

"Enjoying the view?" The captain of our squad came up to me joking about the view or lack of one.
" Yeah if only"
"You nervous?" I turned my head back to him.
"Yeah I guess so."
"That's normal, it is your first op after all. Just stick with the team and you'll be fine."
"Yes sir." The Captain turned back to the other troops and making sure that they were ready. Eventually I heard the pilots voice again.

"Attention. The fog is gonna clear up we're approaching the facility repeat we are approaching the facility." The captain stood up and barked an order at us.
"You heard em check your weapons and gear again." I began a quick gear check making sure I had everything. After seeing everything was were it should be I pulled the bolt back on my G3 and made sure everything was working before slamming the mag in.

We eventually broke through the fog and I could see the facility. It was a old nuclear energy plant out in the middle of nowhere France, the place had a meltdown due to negligence or something. The staff wasn't doing their jobs and something happened because of that the plant went down a couple years ago and not much was ever done about it. We were finally called out because a small terrorist group are holding up in there and they got a prisoner, not really sure who she is. From what I could tell she was just a random woman in the wrong place at the wrong time. And even worse this terrorist are trying to get the place back up and running which in its current state could cause some really bad stuff to happen. So our job is to get in their take out all terrorist elements get the prisoner out and deal with any 345 Anomalies and set up a safe area for the clean up crews. I heard one of my comrades speak up.
"When the hell did we become an Anti Terrorism Force."
"The terrorist have a prisoner and control of a nuclear site with the intention of causing mass amounts of damage. The moment that they get ahold of nuclear material of any kind we can be tasked with going in and clearing them out. Also we can be sent in to deal with terror threat's even if they don't have anything nuclear, it was in the contract you signed so if your mad about it be mad at yourself for not reading the fine print." The captain laughed as he finished the last part. It was right we are allowed to be sent into situations that don't involve nuclear problems.

"We're going in get ready to repel."
We all followed the pilots orders and stood up as the helicopter eased out over the ground.
"Hey Lukas let the wire down on the right side!"
"Yes sir!" I dropped the wire and watched it hit the ground.
"Alright let's go let's go!" I attached into the wire and slide down it unclipping when I reached the bottom soon I was joined by my squadmates.
We waited until the other helicopters unloaded their troops assembling a full team of 15 of us. We split off into 3 teams simply labeled 1,2 and 3, I was on team 1. The captain spoke over the coms.
"Team 1, we're getting in through the north western side of the facility. Team 2, your going in through the south. And team 3 will be going through the east side. Search the place from top to bottom and check your fire we don't want to end up killing the hostage."
"Copy that."
" Alright move out and be quiet."

Our teams split up and went to our areas. We had reached the north western part and found our entrance, it was a old elevator shaft leading down into a tunnel the elevator was gone leaving only the metal wire leading down into the darkness.
"Alright get your repelling gear we're going down." My comrades and I complied with some whines coming from a few.
"Oh come on Cap why do we have to do the horror movie shit."
"Because it's our job ain't this what you signed up for."
"Not exactly."
"Whatever, Lukas ur with Craig you two are going first."
"Yes sir." I started hooking up to the wire.
"Oh come on now I have to go first."
I sighed.
"Just quit whining and come on." After Craig the one complaining hooked up we began our decent down deeper and deeper until all light vanished and darkness swallowed us whole. I felt around on my helmet and clicked on the flashlight I had there. I had to improvise with what I had when making the helmet mounted light, all that was needed was a flashlight duck tape and an elastic band not the best but it worked. I looked around we were still on the wires, as I looked down I could see the ground. Once we had reached the bottom I took a second to look around and froze. Craig was about to say something but I shushed him in time. I quietly whispered to him.
"Be very still and quiet we're surrounded." I looked around and saw the abominations they looked human in fact they were probably the old workers here. Their eyes looked as though they gouged them out and they had no nose just a flat surface were it ounce was. They all looked like this. The only things left on their heads we're their mouths and ears. Craig whispered something back.
"When you lose a sense your other senses heighten to compensate." He was right they paid zero attention to us or the lights. Craig quietly picked up a small rock and threw it down the tunnel that's when I got a better look at where we were. We had decended into a hub of sorts with pipes lining the walls, equipment was scaderd around, suits hanging on the wall and tunnels leading off into the darkness. I watched as the rock flew through the air and into the dark tunnel. A small thud could be heard and the beasts began to search the area trying to listen for any other sounds... We were silent. They began scattering into the tunnels trying to find something. We looked around the area and saw that there was no monsters in Sight. We say a room and slowly crept our way to it. Opening the door we found it was a stair way and after checking it we found no one or nothing in the room so we eased up Abit and made contact with the rest of our team.
"This is Lukas, we've made it down the shaft what's going on up there."
