The wind was howling while Maddie was wandering around the woods in hopes of finding her family, who she became separated from while hiking. Leaves crunched behind her and there it was, the monster. She looked up in horror and ran. She ran as fast as her legs could carry her. The monster got to her with the shadows that helped the monster gain the speed it needed. It stood up and.... BEEP BEEP BEEP!!!

Maddie awoke in a cold sweat. It was just a dream, but that stupid alarm clock wasn't. She grabbed the alarm clock and threw it to the floor. How do you like that, huh?! "What's got you in a mood?" asked her twin brother Max. "Shut up Max." Maddie wasn't in the mood to deal with him today, even if he paid her. "Whatever, let's go." "Go where?" "You forgot? Ugh, I still don't understand how people think that you're the smarter twin!"

She really didn't forget, she just didn't want to go back to the woods. In her mind, the woods were a place where bad things happen. Like Freddy Krueger, and Michel Myers. "We're going on a trip to the woods to visit The River of All Knowing!! I can't wait!!!" He really is dumb, isn't he? "I can." Maddie mumbled under her breath. "You know Max, a lot of people disappeared from where we're going. People claim to hear 1 song over and over again before they realize that someone is missing. One, two, Freddy's coming for you. Three, four, Better lock your door. Five, six, grab a crucifix. Seven, eight, Gonna stay up late. Nine, ten, Never sleep again...."

"S - shut up Maddie. T - that's not r - real." Max says with a very noticeable quiver in his voice. "Okay, but don't say I didn't warn you." Maddie knew she got her brother scared, and she felt satisfied. As she walked by Max, she sang the song in a spooky whisper. "One, two, Freddy's coming for you. Three, four, Better lock your door. Five, six, grab a crucifix. Seven, eight, Gonna stay up late. Nine, ten, Never sleep again...."

Max pushed Maddie so hard that she almost fell, but she chuckled and headed down stairs to get ready. While she was packing, she felt as if she was being watched. It's nothing. Probably my imagination. When she thought that, she instantly knew that it wasn't her imagination. It was Max trying to scare her. That won't work Max. I'm unscareable when I'm awake. "Hmmmmm," Maddie said, getting ready to scare Max before he could scare her. "I wonder if my friend Ella is back from HER trip to The River of All Knowing." Maddies friend Ella disappeared while visiting The River of All Knowing 2 months ago. Maddie missed Ella very much, but she didn't show it. She would never show weakness in front of Max because he would tease her about it, and she can't have that. EVER. So she said, in her most ghost like voice, "Max is behind you Maddieeeeeeeeeee. He knowssssss. He knowssssssssssssssss!!!!!"

Maddie turned around to find Max on the floor in a panic. "Got you! You really need to work on your creeping skills Max. I could hear you and see you in the reflection of the window." "Darn. I thought I could scare you this time. I will get you though. Mark my words Maddison Mcduffle, I WILL scare you one day." "Mmmhmmm. That will be the day that pigs fly and when it rains puppies." Maddie said sarcastically.

"Come on Mcduffles, it's time to go!!" their dad calls from the driveway. "Watch your back bro. If you don't, you will regret it and there will be dire consequences." "M - maddie, shut up!! O - or else I'll - " ''Or else you'll what, go tell dad?" Maddie then walked away leaving Max with his mouth hanging open and still trying to process what had just been said. Maddie loved having the last word.
