Maddie awoke to see her family was sleeping, so she decided to explore the woods a bit. She might as well look around the place where her best friend died. I miss Ella so much. If I had 3 wishes they would be for Ella to come back, for her to not die, and to give Max some manners. The best wishes of all time. Maddie saw that the trees were the same and the lighting was still magnificent, so she decided to head back to camp. Then she heard it. Leave being crunched behind her. She slowly turned around to find Max standing there looking at the sky. "Hey Max, whatya doing?" "Nothing really." After some silence Max said, "Are you ok Maddie? You were kind of upset last night." "I was just having a breakdown Max, I couldn't function properly." "I see."
"Maddie, Max, come on we're going to the river!!" their dad called. "Race you there Max!!" "Ok but I'm going to beat you Maddie!!" "No way!! I always beat you Max!!" The twins raced to the river and looked down. It was prepossessing, just like Ella said in one of her last text messages to Maddie and Max. The beautiful trees and leaves made them feel like they were on a movie set, because it was too pretty to be true. Maddie loved it so much that she decided to wander around. While she was walking, she saw a rabbit, deer, a bunch of different colored birds, and so much more. She felt calmer than she ever had in her whole life. She felt her worries drift away with the wind.
A scream brought Maddie back to the real world. She ran to the sound and when she got there, a lady was on the floor in tears saying that her son and daughter were gone. She said she heard a creepy song and then - poof, the kids were gone. Max went pale when he heard about the song and Maddie was too upset to just stand and watch this happen. She ran into the deepest part of the woods and listened. She listened for anything that could help her.
She heard muffled screams coming from a cave. She found two kids in ropes with a cloth over their noses and mouths. Oh my gosh. They were kidnapped. She untied the kids and told them to go back to their mom. As they ran, Maddie went deeper into the cave to free anyone she saw along the way, which was actually a lot. There were men, women, children, teenagers, tweens, and even some babies. When she got to the end of the black cave, she heard a faint voice. "Maddie? What are you doing here?" Maddie couldn't believe it. It can't be her. No way no how. It just can't. But as she turned around, there she was, Ella. Maddie's eyes filled with tears and she hugged her best friend once again.
Maddie and Ella walked out of the cave hand in hand as best friends reunited. When people saw everyone from the cave, they were in shock and some even in tears. When Max found Maddie, he had a look of panic and concern on his face, but that was before he saw Ella. Skip to a few nights later, the trio consisting of Max, Maddie, and Ella, explored the woods that were now more pretty than ever. Even though no one knew who took all those people, everyone was happy to be alive and well, along with returning to their families. And they all lived happily ever after, or did they all?
