"Hey babe. Are you free for a double date on Saturday?" Brooklyn asked when I met up with her for lunch.
"With who?"
"Charlotte and Devin." Brooklyn informed, chuckling when my expression turned into a grimace.
"Oh come on. Why them?" I groaned.
"Please." Brooklyn pleaded with me. "Lotte's my best friend and we haven't been spending much time together because I've been spending all my time with you and she's been spending all her time with Devin."
"Who says Silvera will agree to this anyway. I reckon he likes me about as much as I like him." I tried to rebuke the idea.
"He already agreed." Brooklyn declared. "If you hate him that much, you wouldn't want him to be the better boyfriend, would you?" She jokingly teased.
"Fine, fine, for you I'll go." I reluctantly agreed. Brooklyn cheered. "Where are we going?"
"To the Hornets v Nets game." Brooklyn informed, much to my surprise.
"You're telling me Devin Silvera agreed to go to a basketball game?" I was baffled.
"Lotte insisted on it and he's a good boyfriend." Brooklyn shrugged, not really surprised herself.
"Yeah, I'm a good boyfriend." Devin's voice sounded smug from behind me. I turned around to glare at him, only to find him closer than expected so I was staring directly at his lips. I was still mad about the fact that he was slightly taller than me when I was the basketball player. Surprised at our closeness, I stumbled back and he reached out to steady me as I nearly tripped into Brooklyn who wouldn't have been able to hold my weight.
"You have bad balance." Devin pointed out as he still held onto my shoulder.
"I wouldn't have tripped if you hadn't surprised me." I scowled at him.
"All I did was come up behind you. You get surprised too easily." He stated nonchalantly.
"What happened to our deal this morning? No pissing each other off?" I reminded him.
"I'm just stating facts." I glared at him. "Fine, sorry, I'll stop."
"You guys made a deal?" Brooklyn asked curiously.
"Yeah, a no arguing, no pissing each other off deal." I explained.
"Haha, why?" Charlotte laughed in amusement from beside Devin.
"We got partnered up for an assignment because Mr Jones got Kaden and I mixed up so we decided to try and get along so that the assignment will be a bit more manageable." I frowned, still a little annoyed with the teacher. Charlotte and Brooklyn nodded in understanding.
"Why'd you agree to the double date?" I asked Devin later in another class which we shared without the girls.
"Because I'm a good boyfriend." He quoted Brooklyn's words from earlier.
"I don't think even good boyfriend Devin would willingly agree to go to a basketball game." I mocked.
"I like basketball players." Devin shrugged, staring intensely at me for some reason.
"You're a soccer player." I deadpanned. "Do you even know any NBA players?"
"Steph Curry." He grinned. I rolled my eyes. Anyone who had heard of the NBA knew who Steph Curry was.
"Well, do you know any soccer players?" Devin asked in return.
"Messi." I smirked at him.
"Touché."
