<Annabeth's POV>

- Goode high school's orientation day

Thalia and I were waiting outside the school for Luke to appear. Apparently he got distracted by this African American cheerleader. If I remember correctly, her name was Kelli. Luke didnt know this but, Thalia has this huge crush on Luke. She was so pissed off when he jogged over to the cheerleader.

"I can't believe that stupid little cheerleader scum!" Thalia was practically breathing fireballs.

"Hey,  Thalia, Calm down. I know you like him but you got to be more sneaky about your feelings if you don't want to tell him." I explained to her. I tried to calm her down and it worked.

"Thanks, Annie. Sorry about that." Thalia said with a little hint of sadness. "Anytime, Thalia." I told her.

Since it was almost time for the orientation to begin I marched straight to Luke and pulled him away from the cheerleader girl.

"Come on Luke! There's no time to waste for some random girl you just met." I said and dragged him inside the school. Thalia, walking beside me, gave me a thankful smile and I smiled back.

We headed over to the gym where the orientation will be held. As I was busy grinning, watching Thalia trying to flirt with Luke, Thalia blushing a little and Luke being too dense to notice, I walked straight into someone. I stumbled and looked up. Lo behold, a boy with jet black, wind blown hair and sea green eyes.

He was looking at me, as startled as I am. I tried to apologize to him, to say something, to say anything at all. But I just stood there frozen looking at him. Our eyes met; I thought he had the most beautiful sea green eyes. I felt like melting into them when the boy said "Hey! Watch where you're going." And just like that he was gone.

I blinked. What just happened? I got myself together and stared at the direction the boy went.

It must have been only seconds when I bumped into the boy, but it felt like forever. I can picture the moment we bumped going in slow motion. But now that I think about it, he was very rude. He didn't even apologize. Sure I didn't either but that was different. He didn't even give me a chance to say anything and ran off.

What's the point of having dazzling green eyes if you're rude and everyone hates you? People should be pretty inside. Not that I think he looked good. He's just about average, but he's not my type.

"Annabeth!" Thalia shouted. She and Luke were still walking when I ran into that boy. She gestured towards the gym.

"I'm going! Wait for me!" I shouted back.

I tried to forget about the boy and went inside the gym with Thalia and Luke right beside me like how it always has been. We've known each other since we were kids and I have been looking forward to starting our high school life together. Nothing can ruin us. We've been together like this forever and we are going to be always together. Just the three of us- Thalia, Luke, and I.

We walked into the gym and I saw some people modeling the school uniform. Teachers were shaking hands with students. And on the walls were big purple and white banners that said 'Welcome future freshmen!', 'Goode is good', 'We are all familly' and some other cheesy stuff that makes me want to throw up but feel oddly warm inside.

Orientation finally began. There was a welcome speech and then the cheerleaders came on stage, that Kelli girl as the leader, and went on blabbering about advantages of being a freshman and some other stuff we should know about.

After that it was time for the school tour. We looked around the campus, the classrooms, science lab, cafeteria. Still 3 months left till school starts, but I'm already excited.

We divided into groups to explore the school. I was grouped with Thalia and two other freshmen I didn't know. One girl and one boy.

"So.. What's your name?" The girl asked.

"Annabeth Chase." I answered studying her carefully.

It was a bad habit of mine. Thalia often tells me I observe too much and that it's creepy. Expecially with my cold, piercing gray eyes, but I like my gray eyes. It makes me look fierce like I am, but I couldn't help but stare at the girl infront. Not because of my habit, but because she was that attractive to look at.

She was beautiful with dark tanned skin, her chocolate-brown hair uneven and choppy down her shoulders. And her eyes.. They were filled with every colors you can possibly imagine. It was like looking into a kaleidoscope. Sometimes blue, than brown, and pink..? Is pink even an actual eye color?

"Cool. I'm Piper, Piper McLean." The girl said. "And this is Leo." Piper than pointed to the skinny boy next to her who was fiddling with some wires. He also had tanned skin like Piper, a bit more milky,, with curly short brown hair. He was short compared to most guys I've known.

"Yeah, but you can call me Lord Tinker or maybe Bad Boy Supreme. And no, you may not date me." Leo, still fiddling with the wires joined in.

"But I didn't ask-"

"No, no. It's ok. It's not your fault girls can't stand my hotness. I'm just too hot...literally.."

"God, Leo. Cut it off." Piper, her hand on her forehead, sighed.

We chat a little. It seemed like Piper and Leo have known each other for a long time. Their friendship was as strong as me and Thalia's.

Piper was kind, generous and very interested in lovers which I couldn't understand why. I could tell Piper's very caring and always tries to help others. Too much so that I thought she should care for herself first. Piper was very pretty even though she doesn't care about her looks that much.

On the other hand Leo was the joking type. He's the typical class clown and troublemaker. Always straight to the point and.. always doing unexpected things, but overall he was a good guy. Fun to hang out with and a great friend.

But then, out of nowhere, some guy appeared in front of me and we tumbled into a nearby fountain.

Splash!

Water's everywhere. I was soaked from head to toe, sitting in the fountain staring at the person I knocked over. And I saw those dazzling sea green eyes again. Those eyes I'll recognize anywhere. It was same the boy who I bumped into earlier.

Not only did I bump into someone twice, I bumped into the same guy twice!

Gods, this was so embarassing. I hardly ever bump into anyone. And to the same guy? Weird.

I wiped my face and tried to get up. Even in June the water was icy. But then I saw a hand in front of me. A hand waiting to hold mine and help me get up.

"Hey, you alright?" He asked holding out a hand.

I stared at him. He was asking me if I was alright. He had a worried look on his face and he seemed like a whole other person from the way he is more gentler now and more caring. He seemed nice. Not that it's bothering me or anything, I was simply observing the situation.

"Grab his hand." Thalia mouthed to me behind the boy where only I can see her.

Grab his hand?? I look up to the boy again. Grab his hand so I can get up. Right. I'll just take his hand and.. Agghh! Why am I like this? Why am I so nervous all of a sudden??

I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. Just stay calm. Be normal again!

Clear head, clear thoughts Annabeth!

I stretch out my hand and took his.
