I am guided to sit next to Qing Qing for the interview. She wiggles her eyebrows which makes my cheeks burn. "I'm so excited!!" She squeals in excitement, "Thank you thank you thank you for the exclusive! You're the best," she has the cutest googly eyes in gratitude.
I laugh softly and say, "I'm just glad Xiao Zhan was able to choose the questions. Because he certainly didn't want to be on camera like this. But I'm used to it so I don't mind."
"Good because I'm gonna come in hardcore once we start," she winks at me before her face changes to a diplomatic one. I match hers as we receive the cue.
"Good afternoon and welcome to this week's special! Mr. Wang's no-longer-a-bachelor love life," she turns to face me still smiling, "Mr. Wang, our viewers have been waiting to hear about your side of the story for weeks now. So let's knock this out of the park, is it true that you now have a significant other?"
"Thank you, Ms. Wen. I can indeed confirm that I now have a significant other whom I love dearly," I respond politely. So far so good...
"Wow, and is it also true that your significant other is not female?"
My smile twitches a bit, but I chuckle to save face, "It is, yes."
Zhan WTF!?
"Incredible! I'm sure you understand that this comes as a shock to our viewers."
"I sure hope not. It doesn't matter who I choose to love, that's my choice."
"I agree with that. I think in this day and age, there are so many people who believe that not being Heterosexual means that a person is less than."
"It's true, but I don't agree with their viewpoint. It's like saying that because people have different skin tones, they don't bleed red," she looks astonished which I speak on, "Exactly! So why then if being human is universal, isn't being in love universal as well?"
"Hm... that's a good question."
"I know. It's honestly all about your viewpoint. If it's okay to be a human being then it's okay to love a human being. Now granted we have extreme cases like stalking and pedophilia, and while I do not support such practices, that's not what we're here to talk about."
"True. Now is it also true that you are getting married soon?"
Now THAT shocked the crap out of me. Is he trying to come out...? What is this?? I clear my throat in an attempt to regain my composure. "I don't know how you got all this information, but yes. We're getting married soon."
"A-" she gets interrupted before she turns in shock toward the crew area. I follow his gaze and find Xiao Zhan approaching me. He looks gorgeous and my heart is completely melted as I stand in a daze.
"Babe," I murmur as he moves into my arms; I immediately hug him back. I inhale his scent because he smells amazing. I come back to my senses as I feel a flash go off. I turn to find Qing Qing holding her phone up, Zhan follows my gaze and we all just stay silent staring at each other for a moment before we all burst out laughing.
