just one dance, right?

He loved red. It was his favourite colour, hence why she wore it so well. Just for him. Absolutely stunning she looked. She stepped onto the porch. All eyes turned to her and observed her royal, sparkling, wine-coloured high-low hem dress, perfectly aligned with the pathway. Some were in awe, guys gaping, mouths wide open. As she looked around at everyone, her gaze set upon the man by her side. The man who held his arm around her back, dressed in an all-black tux with a prominent gold chain being his statement piece - Zak. Her childhood sweetheart.  They'd been together since they were 12, keeping their relationship as strong as it started. He loved her and she loved him, they were crazy about each other.

It started back in secondary school, a game of Spin The Bottle. Them and their best friends, Darius and Elyana, were all just friends at this point, very close might I add. After the game, things changed between the two. Rebelle and Zak started seeing each other more often, and the majority of the time, it was without the others. They started pairing up for things together a lot more than usual. As time went on, they began to go on dates and spent more time together, as couples usually would. Evidently, this lead to more time between the other 2 in the group. The more time Darius spent with her, the more he fell in love with her. Her flaws, personality, her looks and her laugh. Her. And slowly, over time, he built up the courage to ask her out. Seeing the two of them now, I think it's safe to say the outcome was what they both wanted - each other.

Ever since then, the two couples were always together. They went through secondary school and went to the same college. However, things got complicated once they found out that they were accepted into different universities. Darius and Rebelle were set to go to the King's College London and Zak and Elyana were to go to the University of York. Miles apart from each other, they still planned on making their relationships work...or at least, did. In celebration of the ending of their college selves (and as an attempt to keep the couples together), Daniella, their mutual best friend, organised a house party, which leads them to the current...

"Do you wanna go grab us a few drinks babe?" she said to Zak, as he looked around. Giving her a light kiss on the cheek, he walked ahead through the crowd of drunkards and strippers (some professionals, others...not so much). Slapping her on the ass, Rebelle surprised Elyana from behind, with a beaming smile on her face and a contagious laugh. Laughing back, Elyana hugged her, tightly. "How are you, my love?"

"I'm good, I'm good, you look stunning!" she replied, "that dress is doing you favours gurl, go you!"

"Aha, stop, have you seen yourself? That whole chic elegant look you have going on...I'm obsessed!"

"Awhh thank you, babe," she replied, smoothing out her layers of sapphire-blue silk.

"No worries babe," smiling she replied, "oh my god, Zak, I'm so sorry! I totally forgot you were standing there. How are you?"

"Oh me? Yeah, I'm good, just can't figure out how to keep my bow-tie straight.".

"If you need another one, I'm pretty sure Daniella has some spare upstairs from the last party. Wanna go have a look? Come on, I'll take you," said Elyana, leading him with his hand up the stairs, leaving Rebelle alone.

Darius came back through and grabbed Rebelle's hand through the crowd. While he danced with her, Gimme That by Chris Brown played in the background. Drunk, he put his hand around her waist, offering her a drink and refusing, she at once attempted to get out of the place. It felt suffocating. But noticing Darius was incapable of being alone, she continued to dance with him and keep an eye on him. At first, she was uncomfortable and pretty reserved. But as he got closer and held her back against himself, she loosened up slightly. He placed his thumb on her waist, fingers resting on her hips. As she swayed them and turned around, he locked eyes with her. The vulnerability was visible in her look. Her deep, chocolate eyes fixed onto his, topaz blue with an amethyst purple ring around his pupil. Both of their pupils dilated, like a heartbeat, as the tension reached a peak. He withdrew his hands from her waist, standing inches apart from her face and repositioned it on the left half of her face, cupping her cheek. Rebelle shut her sleek cat eyes for a moment and faced towards his hand, as if a shiver ran down her spine, pushing her to towards him. She opened her eyes, interchanging focus between both his eyes. Everything around them seemed like it was moving slower. Like they were the only people that mattered to each other at that moment in time; what were these feelings, these thoughts?

Abruptly, she receded. In slight shock, she looked around her. She noticed Elyana and Zak looking for them by the drinks. Waving frantically, Rebelle wiped the look of anxiety off her face. As they noticed her, the pair of them walked over to them both, Darius still in a high state. "He's had too much to drink, give him a shower," shouted Rebelle, above the loud music, to Elyana.

"Babe? I think you've had too much to drink. Come with me," she said, her arm around his waist and his slung onto her left shoulder. Rebelle watched as she held his waist, completely disregarding Zak's presence.

Clicking his fingers, Zak looked at Rebelle and snapping back into reality, her senses tapped in. "Belle, you ok? You phased out there for a sec. Do you need to-"

"Huh, what? No, I'm good darlin. You wanna dance?" she asked him, impulsively.

"Of course, oh look, High For This, your favourite song. Come on.". They danced, passionately, until their bodies were sore. It was like the ending of a romance story, only, this wasn't to be the happy ending of this chapter in their book like they'd hoped for...
