After their first success, our trio walked onto the battlefield with a newfound confidence. Sure, this troop was bigger, but what difference would it make?
As it turns out, that difference would be huge.
They stuck to the old strategy, and it was working for a while. Things were looking bright, and they were so excited that they forgot to pay attention. Specifically, mouse wasn't paying attention. This is where their view of war became more realistic.
Mouse threw bomb after bomb, feeling he was on a roll. He was so excited in fact, that he forgot to light the fuse on one of his bombs. Soon, he would find his most powerful bomb, now with a lit fuse, soaring towards him. It crushed him, breaking every bone in his body, knocking the wind out of him, and exploded inches behind him. He went flying, and landed slightly outside the battlefield. There he could see his friends, still in shock. As he watched them, he realized something: their mouths were moving, but he couldn't hear them. He couldn't hear anything for that matter. His ears were still ringing from the explosion. With nothing else he could do, he tried to read their lips as they spoke.
"Is he dead?!"
"YOU'RE ABOUT TO BE IF YOU DON'T LOOK OUT-"
Flippy fell to the ground, clutching him arm. He knew he had been hit, but he couldn't register who hit him. All he could feel was a blinding pain shooting up his arm. He stopped struggling, and closed his eyes. It was over. He didn't know what would happen next, but he couldn't do anything to help. Sneaky stared at his friends in horror, as a retreat was ordered. Flippy opened his eyes, and attempted to get up. He failed, hitting the ground, as a cloud of dirt arose arround him. With sneaky's help, he managed a slow limp back to base, with mouse trying his best to follow behind.
