Epilogue

So idk how this happened but this epilogue ended up being like 4x as long as an average chapter haha I hope you enjoy it as much as I do ✨

Kaito woke up two minutes before his alarm went off.

Could you blame him, though? He had an exciting week ahead between today being Valentine's Day, and on top of that he had his birthday to look forward to, plus the birthday of somebody else.

He looked over at the woman sleeping next to him. She was sprawled out on the bed with only one leg under the covers, her hair was all over the place and there might've been drool coming out of her mouth, but to Kaito, she could not have looked any more beautiful.

Her stomach was already protruding from her shirt, but Kaito sat up and pulled it back even more. "Good morning," he muttered into her skin, leaning down to brush his lips against her.

"We've got a lot going on, huh?" He pressed a kiss to her stomach again, resting his head on that spot and then a hand next to it. "You'd never be able to guess just how excited I am. I can't wait to-"

A low sound came from above him, and he raised his head to look his wife in the eye.

"Hey, my lips are up here."

Kaito chuckled and made his way up to her face to give her a slow, lazy kiss.

Meiko ran her hands through her husband's hair and gave him a big smile. "Good morning, my love."

She said that every morning, and he never got tired of it. Meiko's nicknames were the most special thing to him.

"Good morning to you, too," he responded, kissing her again. "Sorry for waking you."

Meiko gave him a little grin. "Usually I'm up before you are, Sleeping Beauty."

"What can I say? I have a lot to look forward to," he grinned back sheepishly, going back to her tummy. "Plus, I had to say good morning to Baby."

Meiko pushed herself up into a sitting position, resting her own hands on the bump. "Seems like Papa Kaito is already attached to her."

"How could I not be? She's going to be the most beautiful little girl in the world, because she'll take after her Mama Meiko," he brought his hands up to cover hers and leaned in to kiss her once more.

"Baby's gonna need a real name one of these days, you know," Meiko said, breaking away.

Kaito sat back on his heels reluctantly. She wanted to start up a real conversation, meaning he wouldn't get any more kisses for now. "I know, I know, and she'll get one soon. We've already narrowed it down to a couple options, but I just want to make sure that it suits her, you know? It's perfectly normal to wait until the baby is born to decide."

"Okay," Meiko exhaled. "Yeah, I guess you're right."

Kaito smiled, hoping that satisfied her for now. "Just one more?" he asked hopefully, leaning in again.

"Fine," she rolled her eyes, but he knew by her smile that she was just playing.

Every time they kissed, Kaito felt as if it was the first time all over again. He would never get tired of it, or of Meiko, or of spending every day together for the rest of their lives.

Honestly, he couldn't believe how far they had come since the first birthday of Meiko's that they had spent together. Six years later and here they were, married and just a few days away from being parents.

One thing both Kaito and Meiko loved was the shocked look on someone's face when they found out that she had actually been the one to propose to him instead of the other way around. Kaito had gotten the promise ring, so it seemed only fair to Meiko that she get an engagement ring for him. Luka had caught the whole thing on video, and it was very entertaining to watch and see how much Kaito had been crying.
