The 2nd Date

Chap 1

'So, he was leaving for DC, and you 2 went out on a date? Must be a special guy!' Hetty said over the phone, delighted.

'He is. We've known each other a few months, and it's been a few years since I separated from my ex, felt like the right time.' Jane replied.

'Did you enjoy it?'

'Very much!'

'How do your kids feel about this?' Hetty asked.

'They're okay with it. Alex even tried to set me up on online dating sites! (chuckles).'

Hetty chuckled. 'Kids can be so cute.'

After talking a bit more, Hetty decided to help out a bit.

A week later, Joe showed up at Jane's doorstep with flowers.

'Well, this is certainly a surprise!' Jane said, really surprised.

'I'm more surprised then you! For some unknown reason, these flowers showed up at my place with a plane ticket, and my schedule was cleared for the next week! No idea how or why. Figured that it was just fate. (chuckle).' Joe replied.

Jane figured that she knew how, but she wasn't completely sure. Then she took a closer look at the flowers and saw a hidden note. She read it, and it said:

'No need to thank me! Just enjoy your date. HL'.

'(Chuckle). You adorable matchmaker, you!' Jane thought, smiling at Hetty's kind gesture.

'So, do you want to do something tonight?' Joe asked.

'Huh? Oh yes! Just let me get changed!'

Later that night

'You're right, you do sing very well!' Jane said, while still chuckling.

'Me? I didn't know you had such an angelic voice!' Joe replied.

'Aw shucks!'

At Jane's doorstep

'I had an amazing time tonight.' Jane said.

'I did too.' Joe responded.

'Can we do it again tomorrow night?'

'Absolutely.'

Then they kissed each other good night.
