"YOU SCROLLED on one of your many Spotify playlist, despite having a lot your mood went sour after listening to the same songs for hours. You really need to fix your playlists soon, or you'll throw your damn phone across the room. It was already very early morning, about 4:26 right now.

Luckily for you it wasn't a school night, you could make up those hours later in the day if you wanted. You jumped at the sudden sound of your phone violently ringing, the contact name being very familiar. "Emo blue bird" aka vanitas. You quickly answered careful not to wake your family members that were sound asleep by now.

You let out a soft sigh already knowing the problem, knowing that he wouldn't call at this hour for no reason. The first few seconds was only vanitas's heavy breathing through the mic, he was clearly shaken up. "Got another nightmare?" You whispered—standing up from your bed.

"Yeah" was all vanitas was able to let out, his voice shaky. "I'm coming"

The call was short, but you already knew what to do—repeating the steps many times before. Vanitas was always a very secretive guy around you but with years worth of trust and friendship he learned to let his walls down around you. It was an experience with many ups and downs with many obstacles; but it had made your relationship more crucial.

You figured the two of you had a few hours to do what you wanted before the son would rise and your parents woke up again. Slowly turning the knob of your parents door it slowly opens with a dragged out creek. You whispered profanities the moment you noticed your dad begin to wake up, come on the keys were so close. You visibly relaxed once you were certain your dad had fallen asleep, getting comfortable again.

Slipping on your shoes the wait to this garage was getting more annoying that every second passed. Your patience running thin, you beg the door to please stop making so much noise. You had a wooden box of your secret stash placed under your arm, looking around for any prying eyes. You hurriedly unlocked the door before hopping in, throwing the box in the back seat.

One things for sure if the garage door didn't wake them up then the car engine sure did. Just prepare to get an earful about it until your late thirties. As expected, there wasn't as many cars driving by during this time. You yawned, tapping the wheel the awful wait for the light made you even more tired. Vanitas was already at the spot the moment you turned the corner, the January cold obviously bothering him. You parked a block away from his house, just like every other time in fear of his little brother catching him.

You figured that he had calmed down a bit before you arrived, he is not shaking as bad as you thought he was but it might of been the cold. "Bad news I didn't bring any drinks with me, good news there's a gas station open I saw it when I was passing by actually" you tried to lighten the mood, using a random conversation starter you made up in your mind a few minutes ago. "No, don't it don't care" despite his semi-harsh tone you shrugged it off and pulled off driving.
