Alex whinnies in fear as we land. He nearly face plants as we jump off of his back. With a wave of her fingers he turns back to scrawny, little Alex. He’s lying on the sand when Caleb helps him up. Alex brushes the sand off his shirt.

“Thank you so much Maya.” He says with obvious sarcasm.

“Hey you’re welcome!” She says. He rolls his eyes.

“Um… guys. I think we’ve got company.” Caleb says pointing behind me. I turn and see Maleficent and Jafar running toward us. “Run!” He yells. We start running down the sand hill when Alex falls again. I sigh.

“Come one guys. Let’s help him up!” I say as we all bend down and pull him up.

“I tripped on something.” He says as he pulls something out of the sand. In his hand, is a golden, beautiful lamp.

“Hey. That’s the lamp from the Aladdin movie!” I say. I take it from his hand. “Do you think maybe it’ll still work?” I ask.

“There’s only one way to find out.” Maya says as she grabs it from my hand and rubs her hand across the right side. A blue smoke emerges from the lamp and a matching blue figure flies out.

“Ten thousand years will give you such a crick in the neck!” He screams. My mouth drops open.

          “You’re… you’re the Genie!” I say excitedly.

“Yes! And welcome! What’s your name?” He asks me.

          “Avalon.” I respond.

“Welcome Avalon. Can we call you Ava? Or just Lon?” He asks.

          “Um… Avalon’s good.” I laugh.

“So what’ll be master?” He asks me.

“Right. Three wishes.” I say. “Anything right?”

“Uh, almost. There are a few, uh, provisos, a, a couple of quid pro quos.”

“Name it. We’re kinda in a hurry.” I say glancing behind me.

“Rule number one: I can’t kill anybody. So don’t ask. Rule number two: I can’t make anybody fall in love with anybody else. And rule number three: I can’t bring people back from the dead. It’s not a pretty picture. I don’t like doing it!” He says. “Other than that, you got it.

“I wish…” I start, then I turn to Maya, Caleb, and Alex. “What do I wish?” I ask them.

“Uh… I don’t know. Maybe that we weren’t be chased by Jafar and Maleficent! Just a thought!” Maya yells at me.

“Right. Genie. I wish we were far away from Jafar and Maleficent!” I say.

“You got it Ava!” He says. He whistles twice and a magic carpet shows up next to him. “Yo, Rugman! Haven’t seen you in a few millennia. Give me some tassel.” He says as they high five.

“Okay. Yeah. Great, great. Old friends. Now get us outta here!” Maya yells.

“We need some help, carpet. If ya don’t mind!” Genie says. The carpet shakes the head, he doesn’t really have, which I think is his way of telling us he doesn’t mind. “Okay! Everyone climb aboard!” He yells. We all pile on the carpet and we fly away, just as Jafar and Maleficent catch up with us.

We land at the gate marking the end of the desert.

“Please remain seated until the carpet has come to a full stop. And thank you for choosing Genie Airlines. Have a nice day. Goodbye. Goodbye. Goodbye.” He says as we file off the carpet.

“Thanks for all your help Genie.” Caleb says.

“No problem. But you’ve still got two more wishes.” He informs us.

“Thanks but we really have to go in case they catch up to us.” Maya says as she runs to the gate. We follow. I turn back to the Genie.

“Hey Genie. I wish for your freedom!” I say. I turn again and run after them.

“So where does this gate lead to?” I ask as I catch up. Caleb brushes off dirt from the sign on the gate.

          “Um. Avalon?” He says.

          “Yeah?”

“I think you’re about to meet your parents.”
