Chapter 16

Siya Rains

I took five long minutes, fixed my appearance and walked downstairs. It was difficult to look at Landon after what had happened upstairs. In my childhood home, I can't believe that I let that happen, I was supposed to confront him about his reason for being here, but I didn't get a clear answer there.

As I sat down on my seat and my parents served the dinner, I felt two pair of eyes on me, one was Landon and the other one was Rebecca. She knew exactly what had happened, because of which I couldn't look at her either. I just want this evening to get over soon, and yes, I'd like to go home with Landon and have sex. I was beyond turned on after our little incident upstairs.

"So sweetie, how is your work?" Dad asks me breaking the conversation or should I say the forced conversation Analia was trying to have with Landon.

"It's all good, I have a great batch of students this year, all of them are so eager to learn and –"I started but I was cut off by Analia.

"Yawn, dad listen to my thing." She said but my dad shot her an angry look making her shut her mouth.

I felt bad for her, all she wanted was attention. Attention from my dad, but because as a child I was the quiet, shy and anxious one, he had a soft spot for me. He never gave Analia the attention she craved which probably turned her into this person, who didn't like me because I was dad's favourite.

Analia was my mom's favourite and Rebecca was loved by everyone.

"Its fine dad, what were you saying Analia?" I say with a smile and she looks at dad who just nods. He obviously did not like Analia calling my talk "yawn" but he gave in as we had a guest over.

"I am actually going to pursue a career in fashion, so I was thinking of moving out and staying with Siya for a while." Analia stated and my eyes widened. I knew why she wanted to move in with me, to get closer to Landon. I could see Rebecca shaking her head at me, asking me to turn Analia down, but I couldn't, she is my sister.

"Sure, why not!" I say again with a smile, but now it's getting harder to fake a smile again and again. I lived with Analia throughout my childhood which was hell for me, because she tried to compete with me and I hated competitions. But I don't have a right over Landon, I don't own him.

"Oh my god! That is so sweet of you." She exclaims as she flashes me one of her beautiful smiles.

"So landon are you dating someone?" My mom asks as she pats Analia's back and I groan internally. She told mom and now mom is trying to set them up. My face visibly falls as my dad quickly looks at me but I shake my head to tell him that I am alright.

"Yes actually I am, I don't like talking much about her or my personal life, but we met a few months ago and I guess I like her." My head whooped in his direction as soon as I heard those words, I wasn't stupid, I knew that he was talking about me. But I wasn't sure if it was genuine or he said it just to get Analia off his back.

I saw my mom and Analia's face simultaneously fall while my dad just nodded. We all ate in silence after that with little anecdotes about our dad here and there as it was his birthday. But other than that there was thankfully no drama, giving Alicia the cue to pop the question.

As we all finished the dinner and moved to the living room with a glass of wine, Landon sat down right next to me on the couch. I shifted a little, feeling shame as the images of us doing inappropriate things flashed in my head.

Before anyone could speak, Alicia stood up, "Rebecca, I know you love your family more than anything in the world which is why I want to do this in front of them. I've known you since college even though we just started dating a year ago. You were the popular girl in my college, everyone was crazy about you, and I was one of them. Never in my life did I imagine that I would actually end up dating you. My family did not accept me, but your family did, they made me feel loved and accepted. You always say I am the one that saved you but in actuality you are the sole and the only reason behind my happiness."
