Cassy

"Omg, like, what did you do to your hair, brad!" The girl scrunched up her nose. I can't believe I'm stuck on a train next to these two. I mean, talk about annoying! I should call 911 and report an assault. On my EARS.

"This is (replace with train stop)" Oh, thank God! Oh breathe a sigh of relief and practically fly out of the train car. I match up the stairs, past the turn styles and into the light.

"I'M FREE!" I shout, I don't get many weird looks considering this is near a high school, so it's pretty common for oddballs to run about screaming weird things. I break into a run, my dark brown hair whipping around my face and my backpack slamming against my back. I run right up to the front doors of my school and slow down once I'm inside.

"'Morning!" The lady at the desk says. I smile,
"G'ornin!" She gives me a funny look and I realize I just smushed the words together. Oops. I blush and quickly make my exit up the stairs and to my locker. There's already crowds of people standing around waiting for either the warning bell, friends or teachers.

"Hey Cassy!" My friend Belle says. "Can you wait a sec for me to get my stuff from my locker?" She says, dropping her stuff off and dialing in the combination.

"I wait for no man!" I yell, braking into a run. She laughs and I jog right into chemistry.

------------------------------------------

"Ok, so the next step is to-" suddenly mr.Adams is interrupted by men in white business suits bursting into the room.

"Get down! Get down! We don't want to hurt you! Get down and hand over any weapons and electronics. We already told the police there might be a prank call around this time. Do you think they'll listen to you?" One man yells. "Now, listen up! Everyone here is going to be scanned. We'll take only one or two of you. No need to be frightened. The chances of it being you are slim." He says, holding up A gadget. He motions for us to get in a line and we quickly oblige. First he scans tommy, a boy who asked me out last semester to the winter ball. I said no, and I regret it now, because I might not see him again. He's sweet, but not my type.

"Please!" He whispers.

"He's not one of them." The man says. He nods for the next person to step up. They keep on going like this, a hypnotizing cycle that I hope won't be broken. But then they reach Belle.

"Put your hands above your head, lycan! Slowly!" He shouts.

"What's a lycan? Where are you taking me!? Oh my god." She says, panicked, and I suddenly know what this is about.

"I am Cassandra Night! Take me instead. I'm an alpha female! Most likely mated to one of the strongest alphas this side of the GALEXY. I'll come willingly if you let her go." I say. The man grins.

"Sorry sweat heart, but that's not my orders. I can however promise she won't be harmed and that she'll stay with you as long as possible. Can you shift?" He says. I'm 16. Dumb ass. Of course I can shift.

"I accept the terms of our agreement and yes, I can shift." I reply stiffly. He just nods and continues scanning. I sit in a corner surrounded by guards, but at least I'm next to Belle.

"Cassy, what's going on? What's a lycan?" Belle whispers. "Why do they think I'm one of them? Is it a cult, because I'm not in a cult."

"No it's not a cult. They think you're one, because you are one, B. A lycan is a werewolf. Except instead of man like beast, we turn into real wolves at will." I whisper back.

"So no moon stuff or killing? No sacrificial rituals?" She asks, wide eyed. She seems to believe me, which is good. I can't have her thinking I'm some nut at a time like this.

"No. No moon stuff or crazy rituals." I smile gently, squeezing her hand. I look up, sniffing the air. "Hunters." I mutter. "Crap."

"Crap what? Why crap? Is everything ok?!" Belle says, tilting her head to the side in a questioning manner. I hold back a giggle as I connect the look to the same one my dog give me. This is no time for jokes or giggles. She tenses up and I cringe. Thinking of what to say to make it better. To not have to tell her we might die.

"Nothing. Don't worry. I've heard of these ones. They keep their word." I reassure her. She relaxes just a tiny bit and I know I said the right thing. No matter how slightly untrue it may have been. I haven't heard of them, by I can smell it on them, a certain degree of honor. So It's not really a complete lie. Really more of a half lie. A white lie. Oops.

"Ok. Can you promise me something?"she whimpers.

"Well, it depends on what it is." I reply warily. She gazes up at me vulnerably and I worry my lip waiting for the request.

"Don't leave me alone with them." She pleads, eyes waiting for an answer. Any answer, and I nod fiercely.

"Never."
