⚠️Brief mention of abuse, mild language, and fluff⚠️

In truth I could have ended the battle rapidly if I wanted too. One intolerable strike of my blade against the Earth would create a force so ruthless it would've divide the lines and obliterated over half of their army. I'm simply too weak to do it at the moment but the guilt of taking that many lives would haunt me. Something the feline will soon find out when she attempts to sleep. Their screams will echo in her mind at night. Unfortunately, I found this out long before she did when I was forced to kill one of our own for betraying the Horde.

I was brought out of my thoughts by footsteps echoing from the medical unit hall which I've been stuck in for a week as the war raged on.

"Heyyyy Adora

"Heyyyy Adora."
Catra said standing next to Hordak who was basically her father figure. Mine not so much.

"Lord Hordak. Catra."
I acknowledged them with a military response.

"How are you feeling Commander? I came to check in on your recovery."
He stated flatly but with concern. He was never one to show emotion other than anger really. However, I have to admit Entrapta has changed him some for the better.

"Doing better sir. Can I return to the field yet?"
I asked hopeful. I hate laying here.

"Not yet but you are being discharged from medical. I'll observe your recovery within the next few days then determine if you're ready. I see Shadow Weaver has tended to your wounds."

Before I could answer Catra picked up my sword by the bed confused studying the red jewel in the center handle.

"What the hell did she do to this?"
Catra asked with a low angry tone.

"It's supposed to prevent me from being in pain if I'm needed before I'm ready if the war calls for my assistance."
I met her gaze before she turned away.

"Can she do that?"
She asked Hordak with annoyance in her voice.

"Indeed she can. If Adora has to intervene that will maintain her strength so she can fight."

"Yeah? But then what? Huh! What happens when she steps off the battlefield? Is she hurt worse? Is she magically fine? Does anyone even care?! Or is she just supposed to suffer and be used as a disposable weapon?!"
I'm astounded at what I'm witnessing. She has never acted out like that.

"CATRA...MY CHAMBERS...NOW!"
Hordak boomed in rage that she would even think she could raise her voice to him with such venom. I was terrified for her. Shadow Weaver's abuse was one thing but Hordak's made hers look like nothing. Sadly we both have the scars to prove it.

"HORDAK WAIT!"
I pleaded as his grip on her arm tightened.

"...Adora."
He's tone was menacing.

"Please don't hurt her! She doesn't want to tell you why she's so upset but she gets like this sometimes...she can't help it."
The desperation cracked through my voice.

"What are you talking about Commander?..."
He questioned glaring at me. This man scares the shit out of me when his red eyes narrow in such a way. It's a silent challenge, one we have never been able to win.

"Oh my god Adore don't say what I think you're about too!"
Catra snapped at me with embarrassment.

"Speak Adora."
He practically growled out his demand through a clinched jaw.

"It's just...she's...she's." I struggled for the words. "You see magicats go through this every couple of months or at least she does. I've never known another one but...ummm...she's in heat."

Hordak released her arm speechless just staring down at the cat with her ears flat against her head looking down at the floor as if waiting to hear her punishment through the humiliation.

"Catra, is this true?"
He knew if it was it certainly explained the outburst. To my dismay he softened placing his hand on her shoulder. She only nodded with her tail tucked between her legs.

"It is sir. I'm sorry. I can't help it. I don't mean to be so emotional. It's just she almost died. I'm...I'm just...I don't want her to get hurt again that's all."

He glanced between the two of us as if he realized it was heavier than it was. Hordak was studying us both intensely without a word. He observed the fierce force captain shrink into herself standing in front of his towering height.

"Ok...just take Adora back to her room and come speak with me once she's settled. Then we'll discuss the next strategy moving forward."

"Yes sir."
He exited the room leaving us alone as Catra covered her face in irritation. Her mismatched eyes clashed with mine as if to say, "really?".

"I'm sorry but I had to tell him or he would've beaten you to the point you couldn't even stand."
I protested as I stood picking up my sword and a small bag of toiletries ready to get out of there.

"Yeah whatever come on princess let's get you back to our room."

I can't help but tease her as we play fight down the hall

I can't help but tease her as we play fight down the hall. I've missed seeing her like this. Everything has been so stressful since we both got promoted. But this time when she pounced me once we got to our bunks I simply let her do it.
I feel my hands fall to her hips naturally as she looks down at me triumphantly.

"What's the matter princess? You finally realize you can't beat me?"
She giggled before moving my hair out of my face then we were lost in each other again.
I wrapped my arms around her lower back pressing her into me as she lowered herself above me.

"I don't want to beat you...but maybe I missed kissing you."
I whispered against her mouth.

"Yeah... I'm right here Adora."
She purred out with seduction.

"I just have to ask one thing first."

"What is it?"

"Do you love me?"

She was visibly at war with herself. If she confirmed it then she was admitting she had chosen me to be with. There was slight panic in her eyes. She couldn't say it out loud just nodded kissing me like it was our last.
