The last stand

Chapter Seven

It wasn't until almost curfew- 1.a.m- until Eryi walked into their bedroom to see Daniel still up and pacing around.

"Eryi!"

"Daniel."

"I was so worried about you.... look, I'm sorry, I should have asked more question before hand, been more prepared, I should have known that was crossing a line but I didn't and I'm.... I'm sorry. And if you ever want me to help you through one of those again, I'll be my absolute best to help you without crossing any lines. "

"Daniel....I want to know everything that happened when I was in heat; everything. "

Daniel nodded and sat down on the chair, he still hadn't fixed the bed from being the best that Eryi created.

Eryi sat down at the end of the bed. There they talked well into the morning about what happened between them when Eryi wasn't in control.

"I....maybe I understand why you did what you did. It was still wrong but I understand now at least. "

"Well I hope you're okay if we push that trip to Draconis to now. I know you may not be up to it but we'd have to leave school early anyway... my dad wasn't us to come you....well if what's you to come home. "

"Why?"

Daniel got up to get the letter and gave it to Eryi. He read it quickly before his eyes went wide.

"HE WANTS TO BREED ME!?" Eryi screamed. Daniel covered his ears as dragons, when surprised, tended to be loud.

"Yeah. I really don't want you to have to go through that so I... well I'm taking you to your kingdom..I know that means I won't get to have you with me but I'm not letting you do something I know you wouldn't want. You wanted your freedom not to be shackled into another bad situation. Getting off with girls and getting them pregnant just to never see them again. "

"Daniel...?"

"I mean we'll still be friends, right? Even from far away and my dad might get mad but who cares and!"

"Danny!" He yelled making Daniel stop rambling.

"That's not how I'd be bred..... please for the love of the gods tell me you used a condom."

Daniel looked confused and Eryi covered his face with his hands, "that's just great. " he said sarcastically.

"I don't understand. It's not like your going to get some disease, right?" Daniel asked concerned.

"Dan, I can get pregnant."

Daniel paled instantly, "b-but that's unlikely, right? Dragon pregnancies are rare from what I heard."

"Not if it's done during heat or rut, then there's a fairly good chance and well- we have a fairly good chance....three times?"

"What... what do we do now?"

Eryi laid back on the bed, hands to his head, "We can't go anything as of yet. It'd be too early. If I was pregnant, I'd carry the eggs for up to a year. That's how long it normally is for dragons. But a human is like 9 or 10 months so I don't know.... maybe around 2nd we could tell. "

"Eyri.... they'd be the heir to both kingdoms.... they would save the dragons and bring a kimd and fair ruler to the humans. "

Eryi was pulling at his collar now, "I need this off. Now. I want to leave tonight. "

Daniel came over and helped him unlatch the collar. Then he brought out packed bags from the closet, "I thought ahead. There's also a carrriage waiting outside to take us to the mountain. We'll have to travel up ourselves. "

"That'll be harder for you then for me, I could just fly up. And I'm acclimated to the cold by nature."

"Right but I packed warm." He shrugged.  He got the two suitcases and picked them up, "ready?"

"As I'll ever be. "

After a fairly long carriage ride they could fortunately sleep through, they arrived at a small cabin just on the edge of the mountain. The driver told them it was as far as he'd go and as soon as they got off with their stuff he was heading back to town.

"I'll just fly us up, as long as you can hold on that is." Eryi smirked.

Daniel sneered back then smiled, "I can do that. Can't be that hard. "

Eryi started taking off his shirt and Daniel stopped him, "what are you doing!?"

"If I shift with them on, they'll rip. I'll be naked when I land either way. "

Daniel sighed but nodded, turned around. Eryi continued to undress, "it's not like you haven't seen me before."

"I want you to trust me like you used to and until you can, I'm not going to do anything to break what's left."

Suddenly a bright light went off behind him, shining brightly. He waited a moment and was pushed to the snowy ground.

He turned and saw a large white dragon and the largest eyes he'd ever seen but felt comfort in the fact that they were Eryi's. Eryi pawed the ground, looked at his tail as he waved it, stretched his wings and just got comfortable in the body he hadn't been in in ages.

Daniel stared in awe, getting up and inching closer to the dragon. Eryi stopped what he was doing and leaned his head down. Daniel put a hand on his nose and smiled timidly, "You're still my Eryi, right?"

The dragon nodded, bending down to let Daniel on.

Daniel climbed up and got into a position were he felt at least a bit sure he could hold on for the flight. Eryi stood up and felt Daniel hold on tighter. He smiled internally and moved to grab their suitcases with his front claws. Once he did, he started to move his wings, getting used to it again, and making sure Daniel won't fall off with the movement. Then he pushed off the ground and they were off.

It wasn't a long flight to the top of the mountain for Eryi, he loved being able to fly again. Wind in his face and under his wings; it was wonderful. For Daniel on the otherhand, those few minutes felt like eternity, he felt like he slip at any second and fall to his demise.

When they saw the lit caves and small houses of Draconis... what was left of it, they landed. Immediately Three full sized dragons were around them that dwarfed Eryi  and a crowd of humanoid dragons at their feet. Daniel got off the got a blanket out of his backpack. Eryi didn't shift back yet and instead, started making noises Daniel couldn't understand as the very first way to speak draconic.

Soon Eryi looked to Daniel and a bright light went off, Daniel went closer to it this time instead of looking away and before he knew it he was holding a blanket around Eryi's small body.

"Thanks, Dan..... They want us to see my brother Thay, he's alive and now the ruler of this....this.....uh...."

"Kingdom? Eryi are you okay?"

"It was fine when I was in my true form but now....the guards are all...all alphas and it's messing with me. " He covered his nose with his hands, they flew off and Eryi sighed a breathe of relief.

Two dragons came up, a bit taller than Daniel and more muscular, "Prince Eryi? It is truly you? How may we be of service?"

He nodded, standing up with the blanket closed around him, "I'd love a place to get dressed if that's okay..."
