CHAPTER FIFTEEN
FLASHBACKS
Despite the old man leading them into the cave, where it looked safe and dark and impossible to see even ten meters away. The old man felt he needed to protect Chloe, so decided to tell her the truth. He had recognized Clijsters immediately at first sight and so he felt that it was his duty to inform Chloe that he wasn’t the right person to be with.
The old man’s face had turned red since he saw Clijsters. He thought it was a rookie mistake to keep this young innocent Chloe uninformed about the person she was moving with. He looked around the cave and now saw Clijsters at a distance from them. He came close to Chloe; behind her rough with hard rocks.
“Why do you think he is walking with you?” the old man whispered and very quickly added, “He’s a dark fairy, unpleasant and evil. I know his history and I still have flashbacks of what happened in the earlier years of his life. I have read all about his family since childhood.”
Chloe glanced back at Clijsters to make sure he was not hearing and then at the old man and smiled. “Ummm... I dunno. I just found him.”
“Do you know who his father is?” Chloe shook her head.
“He’s the son of El Nino Chipata,” said the old man. “He’s considered to be their last remaining master.
“As far as I remember,” the old man looked thoughtful, concentrating on his past memories. “I was young then. I was there when the experiment that was done on him by his family went wrong. What I’m concerned about is what he is actually now. I saw it happening, and also witnessed how his soul was taken, and then cast into a penguin’s body. I’m not a liar and I have a lot more witnesses to stand with me. It wasn’t the outcome that his father had hoped for. It was just worse than everybody expected.” Chloe listened to what the old man was saying about Clijsters. She decided to be impassive at that point, and paid more attention.
“In the year 8888, his life took another twist. Casting his soul into the penguins body had stretched his life far beyond obnoxious, after the failed experiment was done. At the time of the experiment, Clijsters was a young, striking, adorable kid, who was once a human, although he was deformed and twisted in everything.
He had the power to posses anything surrounding him, and he has been haunted by the mystery Santa for many years now. His extended family was almost facing extinction, after his father, El Niño. It was then that his body was given to a fairy and his soul cast into the penguin’s body. His soul quickly got used to the new body and, barred from his family, the penguin possessing his soul was forced into collaboration with the mystery Santa in later years of 8890. Later the penguin was seen as a maligner by Santa. Santa called the penguin “the traitor” as a vindication of not obeying him.
Meanwhile, the fairy in Clijsters body has been wandering around the icy plains of this realm for over thousands of years living on honey and sweet morsels.
During his years after the experiment, the effects started taking influence on him. He developed a head similarly to that of a horse. His eyes turned round and got wings that looked to be heavier. His ears at times tilted down and upwards as well as his neck becoming longer.
This made him to lose his human child-like personality as a true member of the family, and as they vaguely remembered him to be...like them. The evil and unpleasant personality of the darker fairy to whom his body was subjected, was much more powerful than anyone in his family.
Years later, El Nino Chipata summoned his kinship, eager to keep his leadership and the good personality of his kinship. He expelled Clijsters, because the two often attempted to kill each other whenever they met. Despite the fact that, not anyone could defeat Clijsters, the father and son hatred started growing and everyone around knew it.
