Chapter 1

Bacon, Eggs, and Snow

A light tap on the bedroom door and a light word from the hallway called Warren from his dreams. His neon blue eyes could be seen through the rays of sunshine gleaming through the curtains. He slowly sat up looking within the orange lit room.

He heard it again, the light tapping on his bedroom door.

"Warren, your breakfast is going to get cold." It was Heil, one of two of his dads. The one he actually called dad. Beck was the one he called Papa. That way no one got confused when he called them. He looked through the cracks of his eyelids again, and yawned loudly to announce that he was awake. Slowly pulling back his blankets, the cartoon characters littering its folds were the newest craze among the kids at school. He too liked to watch the cartoon robots fighting. They would never be as cool as his dads were.

He jumped hearing his door open and he was picked up and practically flown out of his room. The arms he was in were the ones he was told time and time again that were the most deadly in all of Ninjago. The infamous General Cryptor, but he called him grandfather.

His loud laughing could be heard from the kitchen where Beck looked up from some paperwork before sipping the oil he had been given.

"Come on kiddo, get in there and eat your breakfast." Cryptor put him in the chair and sat down too. Rubbing his knees and sighed. "I'm going to have to get Danika to replace the struts in my knees." He sat back and sighed.

"Will it hurt?" Warren's small voice asked. It was such an innocent question for a little boy.

It had been a few months since he came to live with them. The paint on the walls was still brand new. The whole house was comfy for the family unit, but the yard was at least fifty acres around and the underside of the house was a secret base that they could get into through a secret door under the stairs.

Warren started to eat the eggs, bacon, and toast he was given. He looked up at Heil as he walked into the room holding a bucket.

"Alright, I think it's a good time to clean out a certain little boys room..." Warren gasped and shook his head.

"I cleaned it last night." He smiled bouncing in his seat. If there was one thing the boy was always clean. Cryptor hated the fact, he always figured his grandson would make messes and have a bot do it, but he wasn't that kind of kid.

Most often then not when around the others he just liked to sit and hear stories about what the bots were doing. Staying as quiet as he could. He was always very shy around anyone save for his family.

Beck looked over the rim of his cup at the boy who poked at his eggs. He reached over, touching the boy's hand. The boy jumped and his fork flew from his hands and the plate was thrown across the table.

Warren looked on at what happened, he didn't understand it, and it seemed like his parents didn't either.

"Warren sweetheart?" Heil asked, sitting down next to him and ran his fingers through the brown hair. Warren shook his head running his wrist over his mouth. He swallowed the eggs he had in his mouth and he just shook his head.

"I'm okay...I was just thinking about..." Warren stopped as he looked down at his lap.

"It's okay to think about your parents, Warren. I know they meant a whole lot to you." Beck told him. "If you need to talk to us about it kiddo, if you need anything. You can come to us." Beck picked him up hugging him tightly. Heil pulled in under Beck's arm and hugged Warren too.

"We love you very much." He whispered

How could Warren want anything more? They were so good to him...but then there was the new fear.

"Alright kiddo...the school bus is almost here." Cryptor called.

His first day of school. The five year old took Beck's hand and walked him toward the door. His human hologram took over his body as they walked out the door.
