Nesta awoke with a start. The dream had been the same for a week now. She was running blindly, unsure of her location or what was chasing her. Aielle was also sitting up in the bed they shared.

"You were thrashing in your sleep Nes. What did you dream of?"

Aielle was apprenticing with a witch in Finlen and now believed that each dream had a hidden significance. She'd been poking at Nesta's subconscious for a week now, trying to piece it all together.

Nesta shook off the blanket and stood. "I'm going for a walk." She didn't feel like having her brain picked through this early in the morning. It was starting to become more exhausting than the dreams themselves.

She slipped her feet into a pair of boots and grabbed her cloak. "I'll be back in an hour or two. Don't open the door for anyone." Liander hadn't been safe for women in over a decade, located entirely way too close to Mead and King Vier's court. It was risky for Nesta and Aielle to live by themselves, but they didn't have a choice. They'd both turned seventeen within a week of the other and had unceremoniously been kicked out of the children's home in Rheinelan. They'd stuck together, traveling north until Aielle was able to find an apprenticeship. She brought in enough money for them to afford the rent of the shack they currently lived in. Nesta in turn learned to hunt to provide the food.

She would go check the traps she had set yesterday afternoon. Surely some unfortunate creature had stumbled into one by now.
