The next day, Spamton left his home with Topaz, who had decided to show up on his own. The little Addison didn't mind of course, he was just glad to have the company. Spamton glanced up at Paz, smiling as he noticed something about him.
"You're shorter than the others. Just a little bit, but you are." Spamton points out. Paz makes a choked sound, as if he had been punched in the stomach. The white Addison snickers as Topaz struggled with his words, unsure what to do with his hands as he stammered.
"I- Uh- Um- H-How can you even tell?" Paz ask, wringing his hands together as he walked backwards to face his friend. Spamton smirks, putting his arm out and gauging his friend's height.
"Mmm... Well I look up at you from just a slightly different angle. But hey, don't worry about being the second shortest person in the group." Spamton reassured him, patting his friend on the arm comfortingly. Paz blushes lightly, avoiding his friend's gaze. The white Addison tilts his head, wondering why his friend was avoiding the topic. "Oh, wait a minute. Is that why you make so many jabs at my height? You're not the shortest one anymore?" Spamton guessed, a good-natured smile brightening his expression. Paz frowns, looking down at his feet guiltily.
"Y-Yeah." Topaz muttered, almost in a whisper. He was moping as if he'd been scolded for hurting someone. "I'm sorry, you know... I just- I don't mean to hurt anyone with my jokes. I hope you know that any pranks I pull or jabs I make are all done in good fun. If I ever seriously hurt your feelings, I need ya to tell me. I'm... A little dense." The yellow program admitted shyly. Spamton blinks in disbelief, letting out a soft scoff. I wasn't expecting that level of depth from him, but I suppose surprises are nice sometimes.
"Wow. Alright then..." They walked in silence for a moment, before Spamton suddenly realized something else. "Oh, is that why Ranger was being so hard on you when we first met? He was trying to keep you in check?" The white program asks. Paz chuckles nervously, nodding in affirmation. The little Addison laughs, playfully nudging his friend.
"Ah, I'm just disappointed I didn't get to see your face get pushed into the spaghetti!" Spamton teased, making the yellow program grin at the image. They smiled at one another, turning right to head north on the path. Paz got more and more perky the closer they got to the carnival area, his steps bouncing into the next. It was almost like a dance, or some odd form of skipping.
"Oh I'm so excited! I've been waiting to show you this ever since we met!" Paz eagerly snatched his friend's hand, lifting him from the ground as he rushed toward the carnival. Spamton yelped, hanging on for dear life as Paz ran. "Come, don't drag your feet, let's go!" Paz huffed, already out of breath. The little program rolls his eyes, tugging on his friend's sleeve to try and let him know he was still clinging to him.
"I'm not dragging my feet! You're picking me up!" Spamton huffed, making Paz look down at his arm. The yellow Addison spluttered, hooting with laughter as he saw how his friend was clinging to his arm, like how a koala might grasp at a branch. "Put me down! I'll bite you! I will!" Spamton threatened, though it was an empty promise. At least until Paz called his bluff.
"Oh, you wouldn't bite me! You like me too much!" The yellow Addison challenged, earning an impish smirk from Spamton. Paz yelped as soon as his friend opened his mouth. "Eep! Okay! You win! You win!" Topaz quickly set his friend down, patting him on the head gently. "There, you're on the ground! For the love of heaven don't bite me..." The yellow program pleaded, making Spamton growl and raise his hands as if he had claws.
"Rrr, I'm so scary!" Spamton joked, laughing as Topaz feigned fear, raising his hands. They laughed it off, the little Addison following after his friend as they finally entered the carnival. Spamton took a deep breath, marveling at the delicious aroma of spun sugar and greasy fried treats. "Oh, that smells good! Can we get some of- what did you call it yesterday? Satin Candy?" Spamton tilted his head, looking over at Paz curiously. The yellow Addison snickers, shaking his head.
