▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂if you told me that i would have a 3 year old at 20 and i somehow moved back to sendai, tokyo then i would slap you. i would call you insane and to find someone else to play with because i simply just wouldn't believe you.
but now i stand here in sendai, tokyo on my front porch of my home as i watched my 3 year old run around the front yard. the sun beaming on her and she didn't seem to mind it. it was like she was basking in it and i smiled. akari was her name. it meant sunshine and i couldn't help but think it was perfect at this exact moment.
the sun was making her glow, with my dark skin and my ex-boyfriend's light skin, she had the caramel shade. her curls bouncing on her forehead as she jumped around. butterflies littering around her and she loved it. it made those precious giggles leave her mouth, her chubby hands reached up to grab one aggressively and i called out to her.
"akari!" she looked back at me, shielding my eyes from the sun. "don't grab the butterlies, honey, you wanna let them fly and protect you." she smiled, nodding from what i was saying to her and going back to admiring the insects this time.
a car pulled up in the driveway and i tilted my head. he was home "hey aran." i greeted and he got out his car, a sunken look all over his face. "hey." he responded and i furrowed my eyebrows. "what's wrong, don't let akari see you. she'll be upset." i brought him to the porch as akari waved him before going back to the butterflies.
we sat down, my gaze trying to look after akari but understand what was wrong with aran. "what's wrong?" i asked. aran only came over when i needed him to watch akari or something happened with trey. "trey got locked up."
i quickly looked over at akari before getting up. "what do you mean?! what did he do?" i muttered harshly. so much for a perfect fucking day. aran got up as well, trying to calm me down. "a cop pulled him over and found some drugs on him." i cursed under my breath, irritated that trey could get in trouble over something so stupid like drugs.
"don't worry, you can visit him."
"damn right i'm gonna visit him, i need answers."
"calm down, i'll watch akari while you go."
i nodded, running inside to get my car keys and ran back out. "akari!" i caught her attention and walked up to her so i didn't scare her. "hey my sunshine, mama is gonna run out for a bit but uncle aran is gonna watch you, okay?" i brushed her curls back and she pouted. "why?"
my curious child.
i racked my brain for a while. "uh...we ran out of your favorite juice and i couldn't let you run out like that." i smiled sweetly and she smiled again. "okay!" i kissed her cheeks and pointed to the porch. "uncle aran will be right there, don't go anywhere where he can't see you." she nodded and i left her alone under aran watch.

"trey, you betta give me a good explanation on why the fuck you are on the other side of this glass." i spoke lowly. "baby-." he tried but i shook my head, trying not to lose my cool. "no! no baby, my name is armani right now. now tell me."
trey sighed, "i didn't expect him to search my car." he started and i rolled my eyes. "i told you to get your car cleaned because it smells like weed! of course he was gonna search your car!" i whispered harshly under my breath so the people around me couldn't hear.
"armani, it's not that big of a deal."
"not a big deal?"
"yes, they'll let me out once they realize that it wasn't a big deal."
