The Life of Sirius Black

The Sorting

We were taken to a lake which I already knew was called the Black Lake, since my dad had told me.
"This here is the Black Lake, there is a giant squid who lives here but he's harmless because he's used to people now since he' been here for so long" Ogg said " Now! Everyone get into a boat, four to a boat but Hargrid and I will have a boat to ourselves, considereing his size.

James, Peter and I all jumped into a boat together and we didn't really care who else climbed in. Snivellus was in a boat with Lily, a shy looking red-head and this sneering black-haired boy. We noticed this scared and tattered loonking boy shuffling around looking for a boat with space while Ogg was shouting at him to hurry up. Feeling sorry for the tattered boy I shouted "Hey come over here, we have space!" When I finished I noticed James had shouted more or less the same thing.

No a second later the boats were gliding across the lake and when we passed a bridge above us the majestic castle came into view, the view was supported by Ahhhh's and Ooooh's , some were just sitting there looking dumb-founded.
"Waa-eeeh" Peter squealed behind me, I looked to see what happened when I felt our boat rocking and a tentacle emerged out of the water.
"FOR GOODNESS SAKES PETER STOP SQUEALING!" James yelled at Peter who was squealing and whining like a 2 year old. The tentacle lifted up our boat and tipped us into the water. by now all of us were screaming.
" What the hell is going on!" James shouted.
"I'd say the squids havin a bit of fun" I said
Jame sand I were laughing when we noticed Peter couldn't swim and apparently neither could the other boy as they were both submerged under water. We were about to dive in when-
" Phaa why do you, weigh so much." The tattered boy swam to the surface carryong Peter and struggling significantly. Just then a tentacle lifted us up and put us back onto the boat.
" Well that was fun, wasn't it" I said sarcastically, getting scowls from James and Peter(who just looked down, terrified after I glared right back at him). The other boy didn't really react, there was something weird about him. I didn't have time to worry about him though because we just made it to land.
"Just come over here and Professor Mcgonagall will explain what you need to do next." Ogg said as we followed him towards the the magnificent entrance. The entrance alone was huge, let alone the entire castle, Oooh's could be heard just like when we first saw the castle. When went inside and saw a strict loooking lady standing at the top of some stairs.
"Welcome to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, I am Minerva McGonagall. You will soon be sorted into one of four houses. Here in Hogwarts we have houses each having a common room as well as dormitories where you will relax and sleep, your house will be like your family while you are at Hogwarts. The four houses are; Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Now follow me to the Great Hall." Mrs McGonagall said.
We followed her through 2 grand oak doors and into the Great Hall. All of us were immediately struck with awe as we entered, the hall was massive! The roof was enchanted to look like the night sky and so eere some candles which floated all around the hall.
Once we were in we were told to stand in a line, then an old shabby hat was brought in by Mrs McGonagall and was placed on a stool. We were all confused but then the hat ooened its mouth! And then...
You may see me as a tatty old hat
Yet I am am much much more than that.
In this school for centuries
Determining newcomers destinies.
To determin what house shall be your family,

Maybe Gryffindor,
Who are know for their chivalry.
Brave and bold
Their courage will never fold.

Or possibly Ravenclaw,
As wise as the mind can be
Their intellect is without flaw
A house for the wise, cant you see.

But are you Hufflepuff at Heart,
Every so loyal, kind and smart
Their loyalty shall everlast
Ones who live today not the past.

Or slytherin
With a cunning and ambitious mind
But beware, here you can find
The darkness in power.

So come on,
Put me on.
And see what house
Is the one for you.

The rest of the school burst into applause, it was only then I noticed 5 long tables in the hall. 4 were streched from the doors to the steps up to a little scaffoling, up there it looked like there was 1 final long table for the staff. each of the four table had a banner above it according to its house. Scarlet & Gold for Gryffindor, Silver & Green for Slytherin, Black & Blue for Ravenclaw and finally Yellow & Black for Hufflepuff.
Proffesor McGonagall had a long piece of parchment in her hand as she said " Once the. Call your name come up to the stage and put on the Sorting Hat."
And with that she began.
Abbot Charlie was first on the list and he was put into Ravenclaw ans before long McGonagall said
"Black Sirius" I went up and put on the sorting hat, then it said "Well, it seemsyou come from a long, prestigious line of loyal Slytherins but you do not seem to have the same feelings for it. Alright then..." By this point i was on the edge of the seat "GRYFFINDOR!"
I got up incredibaly pleased with myself and headed for the Gryffindor table, knowingmy family would hate the Sorting Hats descision.
Many other people were sorted like Charlie Abbott who went to Ravenclaw. Snivellus was in Slytherin, Lily and this one girl called Muna Lovegood seemed inseperable from each other, they must 've known each other from before they came to Hogwarts.
Then the Hat said:
Potter James , and almost immediately he was put into Gryffindor and he came to sit next to me and Peter. The tattered looking boy was also in Gryffindor and it tirns out his name is Remus Lupin.
After everyone was sorted an old man stood up and said: "I am Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of this glorious school. But a few reminders the Forbbiden Forest is completely outof bounds to ALL students and no magic in corridors or you will face the consequences. And now enjoy the feast." he ended with a warm smile.
Suddebly tghe whole table was filled with food fit for a thousand kings, thus,with no hesitation, we all began to dig in to the delicious meal. There was steak, turkey, mashed potatoes and so much more I couldn't even see! After that the food vanished, to everyones dismay, but to be replaced with an equal amount of deserts.
I was going to love it here.
After dinner Professor Dumbledore got up and said " Right everyone, I hoped you all enjoyed your meal and are now stuffed with Turkey and Ice Cream. But now I am afraid you must all retire to your dorms to get a nice long rest for your first day. Prefects will lead our newxomers to their respective common room now good night everybody."
And with that we followed a Gryffindor Prefect up to a portrait of a Fat Lady.
He turned tp face us and told us "This is the secret entrance to our common room so do NOT tell the other houses where it is, unlike last year, the password is Hippogriff and will change every month."
He told the Fat Ladys protrait the password and led us all in saying "Girls dormitories up the stairs to the right, boys same for you but to the left. Good night all of you."
And with that we scrambled up to our dormitories where all our trunks were. I was in a room with James next to me, the kid called Remus opposite me, Peter on the other side of the room and this guys whos name i think was Frank.
"Well guys we are gonna have a long day tomorrow so lets get some rest,night guys." James said
"Night" I replied
"G-good night" Peter stammered
And with that I fell straight to sleep.
