Alina and Checkers glare at each other from where they sat in a cafe. Fleur, who had invited them for coffee, had their notepad out.

To a stranger, Checkers and Alina looked like they were peeved at each other and Fleur was writing notes to mediate properly.

But that's not even close to what was, actually, going on.

It was a debate between two people about a rather... Uhhhh... Interesting topic...

"In theory," Alina retorts "a slime would still have the ability to regenerate if the source of their nutrition is there. Say, for example, a slime made of water. It would be big in places near water, but smaller in areas far from it."

"But that, completely, contradicts the law on the conservation of mass, doesn't it?" Checkers asks, finding a loophole in the older person's statement

"Slimes don't, really, adapt to that law to some extent."

Fleur looks up from their notes, confused "They don't?"

Alina sighs "There would be a limit to their growth and ability to regenerate outside their natural habitat. In said habitat, there would also be a limit to their growth since slimes the size of Mount Everest would cause a lot of problems."

Checkers blinks "Wait so, that would mean that they adhere to the idea of surface tension?"

Their opponent nods "Yes. If a slime were to go beyond their limits, they would, sadly, explode into goo."

"Okay," Fleur says without even sparring a glance to either "what about Slime agriculture?"

Both think about it for a moment. See, the reason why Fleur had even invited them was because they needed some logic to back the idea of slime ranchers.

The debate was, actually, proving to be of benefit.

"Well," Checkers said after a moment of contemplation "if we follow Alina's logic, they should be placed in an area that mimics their natural habitat."

Alina nods "As for what the slimes could be sold for, perhaps they could be of use in clean up and crop growth"

"I... Huh..?"

Checkers stared at Alina in confusion. "The first one, I understand. But how could they be used for crop growth"

After a sip of her Mocha Frappe Grande, Alina smiles "A plant slime to spread seeds, you'd need to specialize their habitat for that. A water slime for irrigation, and an earth slime to give them a proper place to grow."

"I guess electric slimes could be a replacement for power sources, huh?"

The person with black and white hair deadpans at Fleur "That wouldn't be good."

Alina nods in agreement "Too much electric charge in the current can short things out. If anything, they'd be a main source of power and the circuit would have various regulators to ensure that the power flowing through isn't too much."

"What about air slimes?" Fleur asks and their friends give the same response

"Transportation."

The three friends smile and laugh at the ridiculousness of this rather educational debate.

Though, it's safe to say that anyone who had heard them thought they were talking about a game.

They'd be shocked to find out that, about a month later, news would come out about this becoming reality.
