"rengoku? i'm done changing."

rengoku opened his eyes and looked tanjiro up and down, before making eye contact and blushing.

"y..you look nice, kamado!"

"thank you rengoku!"

tanjiro just so happened to notice rengoku's suit. it complimented him really well.

they both started walking out before kanao appeared, eyeing rengoku.

"take care of him." she muttered while walking past

-after walking for like 10 mins-

"rengoku? where are we going and how long moree?" tanjiro whined.

"are you tired already?"

"ehm.. yes." tanjiro said that a little softer, probably not wanting to seem so weak.

"i can piggyback you, kamado!" he slowly leaned down.

tanjiro hesitantly got on his back, before mumbling a 'thank you'.

when they reached

"wow..! rengoku! is this the place?"

"indeed!"

"it's so.. nice!" tanjiro climbed off rengoku's back.

just as they went in, a waiter asked, "do you have a reservation?"

"the name is under rengoku kyojuro!"

"right this way."

rengoku ordered almost everything on the menu. the waiter was both happy and sad, mostly since he's gonna get a tip, or he has to bring a LOT of food to the table.

"and what about you, sir?" the waiter turned to tanjiro.

tanjiro looked at the menu, then rengoku.

"nothing - "

"you must have something!"

"but i didn't bring my - "

"your wallet? i am paying for you, kamado!"

"ehm.." tanjiro looked for the cheapest thing on the menu. which was pretty obvious to rengoku.

"he wants a plate of kelp rice balls, and udon."

tanjiro's eyes glistened when he heard 'kelp rice balls', rengoku chuckled at that.

must be his favourite food. rengoku thought.

"change the 10 to 20, please."

"rengoku-kun!?"

rengoku smiled smugly.

when the food is all served.

tanjiro gobbled up all the kelp rice balls. he could set a world record on how fast he ate them.

"UMAI!"

rengoku fed tanjiro one of his bentos. "eat up, kamado!"

when their done eating

the bill was given to rengoku, with tanjiro being grumpy about it. rengoku found it really cute.

tanjiro managed to take a quick look at the bill so he could pay him back.

"42,379.11 YEN??!!?" tanjiro yelled at rengoku, before slapping his hand over his mouth when he saw everyone in the restaurant staring at him.

"rengoku! i'm paying you back once we get back!" tanjiro whispered.

"no you aren't." rengoku smirked. (NOT IN A SEXUAL WAY.  unlesssssss....)

they both left the store, and it was already evening. the sun was setting.

"we should hurry back, kamado!"

while half-way sprinting through the forest, rengoku detected a demon. one with a strong aura..

tanjiro smelt it out too, and recognised it. rustling of leaves became louder. finally the demon appeared.

"tanjiro.." the demon's voice came out.

'uppermoon.. 1..' rengoku read.

"koko..? ehm.." (tanjiro)

"why'd you... run... away?" (demon)

rengoku knew very well he couldn't defeat the upper moon 1. but he could still protect tanjiro.

the flame pillar drew his sword out, a sweat droplet fell onto the ground.

"tanjiro! run!"
