"Chanhee, baby, I'm home!" Juyeon called out after entering his shared apartment with his boyfriend he just called.
Chanhee rushed down the stairs as quick as he could. all he wants to do right now is to crawl back on the bed and be cuddled up by Juyeon until he falls back asleep. it's obvious that he had just woken up from his nap as his hair was all over the place. he didn't have the time to brush his dark brown hair with his fingers, or fix his creased oversized shirt to make him appear a little more presentable, or maybe just scan himself on the mirror. he's too drowsy to do any of those.
why would he even bother at this point, though? Juyeon sees him like this on the daily.
finally, he's home, Chanhee thought as he smiled from ear-to-ear.
Juyeon placed down the paperbag and the cup carrier he was holding on the coffee table before holding Chanhee in his arms.
"hi, sleepyhead." Juyeon greeted, placing a kiss on his boyfriend's forehead.
"I missed you." Chanhee barely spoke, hiding his face on Juyeon's neck as he hugged his partner back.
"I missed you, too." Juyeon ruffled Chanhee's already messy hair, making it more disheveled.
they pulled apart from each other's arms as Chanhee ran a hand through his own hair. "okay, love. what did you buy me this time?" he asked, his eyes twinkling. Chanhee settled himself on the couch as he went through the paper bag, with Juyeon sitting a few inches away from him.
"while I was on my way home, I passed by this newly opened café and thought of buying you something to eat. I know how much you love waffles with whipped creams stuffed inside, so I bought you one, and of course, I paired it with Iced Americano." Juyeon smiled while looking at Chanhee who was busy fixing the food in front of them.
"thank you, love." Chanhee pinched Juyeon's cheeks as he took a bite on the waffle he was holding.
Juyeon responded with a smile, as he started to chew on his own food.
silence took over the atmosphere as they focused on the food they were sharing.
this is usually how their days end up being spent. Juyeon will wake up early to go to work and will be home by 5pm. and as for Chanhee, he only steps out of the apartment thrice a week since he only works part time, or maybe a few days more if he's required to run errands.
Chanhee fixed his seat as he looked up at Juyeon who was also still eating. something randomly popped on his head.
"babe, I have a question." Chanhee started, taking a sip from his drink.
"what is it?" Juyeon asked.
Chanhee placed down his drink back on the cup carrier as he bit his lower lip.
"okay, Juyeon, why do you like kissing my forehead?" he asked, giggling, while he stared at his boyfriend.
"that's so random?" Juyeon answered in a more like questioning tone as he furrowed his eyebrows.
"just answer me, love." Chanhee pouted.
"if I return the question to you, what would be your answer?" Juyeon replied, while constructing a few sentences to answer his partner's question on his head.
Chanhee stopped himself from laughing too loud, "I hate you, for real." he rolled his eyes, "and then what? my answer would be the same as yours?" he added.
"it's not like you won't answer?" Juyeon raised an eyebrow at Chanhee in a teasing way.
"I like kissing your forehead because I want you to feel safe and help you calm down." Chanhee replied, hiding his face with his free left hand, while the other hand held on the waffle he's been munching on for the past few minutes.
Chanhee's face slowly reddened after letting the two sentences come out of his mouth. He just revealed the reason behind that habit of his―kissing his other half's forehead. What made his cheeks flush more is the fact that this is not how he expected Juyeon to respond.
"babe, are you blushing?" Juyeon asked, placing the already crumpled paper wrapper of his just finished waffle down on the coffee table across them.
Chanhee gulped, answering, "no, I'm not, what made you think that?" he looked up at Juyeon who immediately laughed after his tomato face was revealed.
"you're not blushing, huh? look at you, you're so red." Juyeon teased, poking Chanhee's cheek.
Chanhee just let out a shy smile as he was too lost in Juyeon's gaze. not until his expression changed after he realized something was not right.
"hey, you didn't tell me your take on my question!" Chanhee glared at Juyeon. the redness on his face has disappeared already. why is he even shy in front of the guy who he's been dating for almost 4 years?
"ask me that again." Juyeon instructed.
"fine, why do you like kissing my forehead?" Chanhee questioned, taking a bite on the waffle he still has left to finish.
"okay, baby. the reason why I like kissing your forehead is because I want you to feel how much I value you and our relationship. you also know I respect you a lot, right? and like you said, you want me to feel safe and calm when you do it to me, that's also a part of what I want you to feel when I do it to you, too." Juyeon beamed, making Chanhee lower his head as he felt his cheeks start to redden again.
Juyeon had no idea how much those words gave his partner comfort. he has always found the idea of making others feel that they are important rewarding, and his boyfriend admired him for that. it was also one of the reasons why Chanhee found him even more engaging.
on the other hand, Chanhee wasn't even expecting for his other half to take the question too seriously. Chanhee thought Juyeon would respond to his question with a plain and simple answer―because you like it. but turns out, he didn't.
"hmm? is silence what I get as a response?" Juyeon lifted Chanhee's chin up as he spoke softly.
Chanhee pouted as he settled the remains of his food down on the table, letting himself drown in Juyeon's embrace after.
"I love you." Chanhee mumbled. Juyeon smiled, resting his head on top of Chanhee's.
"I love you, too." Juyeon placed a kiss on top of Chanhee's head as he hugged him back.
Chanhee remembered something as he relaxed on Juyeon's touch.
Kevin, his friend back in college, was right. Juyeon is not only the kind and the soft type of guy, he also has the purest intentions. and because of what Juyeon has said to him a few minutes ago, he's even more convinced now that he's already with the right person, and he would not plan to let him go anytime soon.
