I was inside my room. In my safely secured castle. Alone.

It was extremely lonely here. But being a queen with deceased parents and being an only child, I'll have to rule this kingdom alone.

I got up from my vanity and took a stroll through the castle gardens.

As I walked through the aisle of roses, tulips and orchids, I spotted someone unfamiliar face.

What? I haven't seen him on castle grounds before, I know my kingdom like I know my own mind.

I looked more into his features.

He had slick chocolate brown hair, hazy blue eyes, and had dark skin which complemented the rest of his features.

I won't lie, he looks quite cute...

I guess he felt my burning stare since he looked up from his book and gazed in my direction.

I gave him a small wave and smile.

He was startled but waved back giving me a closed-eyed smile.

I carefully walked towards him as I didn't want to trample the plants.

As I found my way beside him, I was astonished. He looked way better up close.

He blushed under my gaze as I just looked away.

"Apologies," I said looking back at him

"No, your highness, I must have distracted you from your duties. I should be the one at fault," He let out while I just chuckled

"No no, I just wanted to take a stroll through the garden, I got distracted since I haven't seen you here before," I said to him which he stood up from the concrete and dusted himself a bit.

"Ah, I'm new here. I'm a librarian," He said.

I looked at him and smiled, I gestured him to follow me as he did a suit.

We walked through the giant halls with an awkward silence.

"So, what's your name, if you don't mind me asking?" I asked to break the silence which his head perked up.

"M-My name is R-Rhys," He said as we got closer to the castle library.

"Well, then R-Rhys, you don't mind accompanying me to reading would you?" I asked

"No, not at all," He said quite joyfully

We walked inside the library and as if in an instant, we were searching for interesting books left and right.
