The ride was quite a long one. But what can I expect? It's in Greenswood. About an hour drive away. My parents said it's the best school in all of Rocktown.
What am I blabbering on about?
I never even told you the name of the school. Well, just in case you wanted to know, the school is called Greenswood Academy. I hope I answered all of your questions. Well, maybe not quite.
I'm here!
Greenswood Academy.
It's huge. I hug my dad one last time and wave as he drives off.
I picked up my suitcases and Encore. The school is so big! Maybe it's even bigger than the Twin Towers.
Stop being so over dramatic.
I looked up. Then suddenly I saw him.
A strange boy peering at me over the balcony. As soon as he saw that I'd seen him, he ducked under the pole. What on Earth?
Are other people staring at me too? I feel like a test experiment. I hesitantly walked into the school building. A man was waiting at the door. As soon as he saw me, his face lit up. "Ah, you must be Sunny Day! Come with me."
Yes, yes. I have heard these ridiculous comments before.
My name is Sunny Day. Don't judge. The man walked into a room with a golden plaque on the door that said, 'Mr. T Roth'. Below it said, 'Principal '. Mr. Roth's voice called on an intercom."Attention students and staff! We have a new student. Please come to the Main Hall immediately."
I followed a bunch of other students into the Main Hall. When the noise had quietened down, Mr. Roth cleared his throat. "Attention students! We have a new student. Would Sunny Day please come up to the stage?"
There was lots of snickering as I made my way up to the stage. But what can I say? I get this all the time.
"Hello, Sunny." Mr. Roth started. "Tell us a bit about yourself."
I took a deep breath. "Umm... hi. My name is Sunny. I play guitar and a bit of keyboard. I live with my mom and dad, I'm 14 years old and I have a wish to become... an alien. I've always wanted to live on another planet."
The audience snickered some more. I looked over at Mr. Roth. I was hoping he didn't ask me if I had any superpowers.
"And do you have any superpowers?"
Just great.
"Yes I do." I replied, hoping he didn't ask me if they could see them.
"May we see them?"
Seriously?!
"Okay. Someone, anyone. I want you to throw something at me." I said and took a step forward.
For a moment, no one moved. Then a girl with blonde hair and blue eyes stood up and hurled a book in my direction. I held out my hands and a shield blocked the book from hitting me as it fell to the floor. I picked it up. It was a rulebook. It was 3cm thick. How was I supposed to remember all these rules?
"Here, have your book back." I replied, throwing the book back to the girl. She grumbled.
" I can shoot lasers from my hands and that's it." I continued.
"Does anyone have any questions?" Mr. Roth asked. The blonde girl raised her hand. "Why are your powers so lame?" She asked.
"I don't think they are 'lame'. I think my powers are great!" I laughed. The blonde girl rolled her eyes.
A girl with short blonde pigtails raised her hand. "Did your parents call you Sunny Day on purpose?"
"No. My dad's surname is Day and my maternal grandmother's forename is Sunny."
A girl with a green bob raised her hand. "Can you play us a song on your guitar?"
"Maybe another time when I can find my loop pedal."
The boy with the glasses raised his hand. "Are you from a video game?"There were groans from the children and one of them even said, "Oh Joel, don't be stupid!"
"No. I am not from a video game. I am a real person."
"Right then!" Mr. Roth smiled. "That's all we have time for. Midinta and Rocker, could you show Sunny around the school?"
Midinta was the girl with the green bob and Rocker was a girl with short brown hair and tips of purple in her fringe.
My journey into Greenswood Academy is just beginning.
